Part II: 12:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. • Understanding what disability is (and is not) • Determining who qualifies as disabled (and who doesn’t) • Knowing how to handle all the disability differences in your marketing, leasing procedures, rental criteria, community policies, and termination of tenancy • Handling requests for accommodations and modifications • Determining what accommodations and modifications are reasonable or not. • Accommodations from A (animals) to M (mental issues) to P (parking) • Elderly residents • Accessibility requirements under the ADA and Fair Housing laws • Problem-solving when disability issues arise (no two issues will be alike) • Specialized issues, such as medical marijuana, hoarding, live-in caregivers, motorized scooters, and others issues.
