Mark your calendars for the big event of the SCOV Pickleball Club spring season: the spring meeting and social gathering on Thursday, April 7, 5 PM, Activity Center/Kiva Patio. The board scheduled this event earlier than usual this year, in the hope that more of our pickleball-playing seasonal residents can attend. All club members and spouses are invited to this potluck party. As the days get longer and the sun gets hotter, pickleball under the lights becomes an increasingly appealing option. Evening play takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 PM. All members are welcome. To register to get updates and advisories, contact Al Womac, biggdawg46@hotmail.com. Pilates

The Joseph Pilates system of exercises has never been in such high demand. His exercises have been around now for 40 years. Fortunately, Sun City offers the Joseph Pilates classes here twice per week. People ask, “Can the benefits of this Pilates method, which come from the strengthening and stretching exercises we do, really develop the body’s core (abdomen and back muscles), increase spine mobility and build flexibility?” The answer is a definite “Yes.” Additional benefits you’ll see from taking our group mat classes will include better balance, more muscle tone and increased stamina. We have two instructors who are both very experienced in the Joseph Pilates system. The cost is only $8/class and the annual club dues are $20 pp. Please feel free to stop by and watch one of our classes. Contact Mary Ayers. Pinochle

Recently deceased poet, C.D. Wright, declared: “Spring clings to poetry. It brings forth possibility.” She also claimed: “Poets do not have the answer. They say what they see. The rooms were packed both days with quilt admirers. Our raffle quilt was won by one of our SCOV residents, Anna Dugan, who was so excited to have it as hers.
