Presentations were on morality, empathy, and emotional intelligence as researched by students from Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Pomona Colleges; seven of the 18 presenters were Scripps students. The conference was funded through an International Psychology Society grant and sponsored by the European Union Center of California and the psychology department at Scripps. …to Melissa Mesinas ’12, who was honored as a “Latina Future History Maker” in March at the Latina History Day conference in Los Angeles. …to Megan Peterson ’15, who was selected to participate in the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program’s intensive summer institute for the study of Arabic. The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages.
