CREATE A COMMUNITY OF CHRIST-FOLLOWERS MARKED BY UNWAVERING FAITH AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Dear Friends, What a privilege it is to look back at 2016 and recall how God has continued to demonstrate His faithfulness to Scottsdale Bible Church. This has been a year of growth and preparation for even greater ministry. As we experienced the fruits of our Compelled by Grace season of expansion, we saw positive momentum as many new people joined us and took a step closer to Christ. The pages of this report include many numbers and graphs, but behind each number is a changed life—from those who volunteer their time to carry out our God-given vision, to those who are the recipients of that effort and came to know Jesus for the first-time this year. Every person has a story and every story matters to God. Many people have experienced Christ’s redemptive and restorative power in their lives. Others have been encouraged through a small group or stretched by serving others in our community or on a mission trip. God is changing lives, and that’s cause for celebration. I hope you will be inspired by this report. As you read it, offer a prayer of thanks and ask God to continue entrusting Scottsdale Bible with His vision, resources and message of grace in 2017.

Every aspect of my life has completely changed for the better since I began relying on God. I know I can accomplish all things through Christ and am excited to continue down whatever path He has in store for me. I got baptized to show I am gone from my old self and dedicating my life to God.

From the first day my family and I walked on this campus, we instantly felt overwhelmed with love and knew we were where we were supposed to be. We have never been to a place like this before and it is all due to the people. I am not just a number at SBC. I am treated like part of the family.

Being a part of the refugee ministry has given me great joy and a greater realization of the realities these kids and their families face when coming into a new country. I’ve been blessed by the relationships and touched by how God loves and provides for each one.

PARTNERING AND SENDING TO IMPACT OUR GLOBE FOR JESUS

Joining with local churches and partners around the globe, we strive to bring hope, justice and help to our world as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

GLOBAL REFUGEES

EUROPE

LATIN AMERICA

Supporting churches and workers who serve more than 4 million refugees in Jordan, N. Iraq, Lebanon, and Turkey.

Trained more than 40 Quiche pastors to reach their communities in Guatemala.

Sent an SBC team to learn how to help with trauma counseling, children’s ministry, and humanitarian needs.

Supported San Lucas Medical Clinic in the Yucatan which treats hundreds of patients from the surrounding region. We also opened a new in-patient wing this year that was funded by SBC donations.

SOUTHEAST ASIA

Sent a team of 25 volunteers to serve at the European Leadership Forum, which hosted more than 600 European church leaders. Supported church planting, marriage ministry, and youth work in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Moldova, and N. Italy.

Raised $35,000 for church construction in La Paz, Mexico.

At a Good Friday service this year, we all received a plastic tile and were invited to lay it at the cross as a symbol of submission. I kept it with me that day, but in April, on a mission trip to Guatemala, I had a life-shaping experience. My tile now rests on a cross in Guatemala. Helped a justice ministry begin a start-up business that employs 12-15 women from trafficking backgrounds. Completed a New Testament translation for an unreached Muslim people group. Saw 30 new baptisms through an SBC family’s church planting ministry in SE Asia.

I started attending a men’s group when my marriage was failing, my health was deteriorating because I was drinking heavily, and I was trying to hide my addiction from family and friends. With one of the pastors, I asked God to forgive me of my sins and to break the chains of addiction that had been controlling my life. He answered immediately, and the desire for that sin was removed, and I have been sober for more than two years.

While deployed in Iraq, I was broken and angry at the world. My fiancé told me about SBC and I began streaming messages. Through Jamie’s teaching, I began a relationship with Jesus. Eight months later, I came home and visited SBC for the first time and felt the warmth of a church I already considered my home.
