Rear shocks
Rear Lambretta shocks are available in two different lengths, with the shocks of the Series 1 & 2 models being 13 mm longer than the later Series 3 versions. You can also fit the earlier examples to a Series 3 Lambretta to get a slightly improved ground clearance. A trick that has been used on race scooters for a few decades now to give exhausts and bodywork an easier life in race use. The additional ground clearance however may cause problems on other ends, especially the inlet manifold on TS1 engines easily fauls the centre tube of the frame. After Sebac had gone out of production, the choice of rear Lambretta shocks is even more limited. The Indian Escort shock may not really look the part, however it is a good example for well working and long-lasting parts being produced in India (similar to the Stage 4 barrel or the rear brake drum). A completely other thing is the Taffspeed shock, where both looks and quality are up to the highest levels. Plus the Taffspeed is easy to adjust to the individual desires of any rider and any kind of use. Spring preload can be adjusted by a C-spanner, while damping can be set by a small lever at the back of the shock. To sum it up, the Taffspeed shock leaves nothing to be desired - apart from a rise of your wages perhaps. A special case are the rear shocks of late Serveta models. These scooters had extrawide fittings for the shock. While the (excellent) Serveta shocks can not be fitted to Italian or Indian scooters without major modifications, it is easy to use Escort or Taffspeed shocks by simply adding a suitable quantity of washers. Front fork dampers
Lambrettas with no front dampers fitted as standard can be upgraded using our front damper kits. These dampers are fitted to the forks by either welded or clamped brackets. At the bottom end, the clamps are hooked into the fork links. All model originally equipped with dampers (all TV, DL/GP 200 and SX 200) will of course not need any additional brackets. Again late Serveta (Lince) models are an exception, as these had 9mm studs to mount the dampers, so that the Indian or Italian dampers cannot be fitted as standard. We recommend the chromed dampers, which not only look the part but also work very well, also when used in conjunction with the standard rear shock. The fork springs however should be upgraded then. We are no longer offering the Kawasaki steering dampers, as their damping rate has proved not suitable for the use on Lambretta forks.
