Cylinder heads

To gain the full potential of your engine and that for a long time you definetly need a cylinder head machined in the right way. To keep it a pinking free ride for miles and miles the right compression ratio is as important as the accurately squish area with an fitting angle as well as a squish gap between 1.0 to 1.5 mm. These are very important parameters and even the slightest modifications can seriously reduce the life of your engine. To avoid any problems related with the cylinder head design we recommend you to use high quality heads machined to optimzed specifications. We offer you a variety of very good heads sourced from different high quality sources. Beside the daddy of the TS 1 cylinder kit AF Rayspeed these are MB Developments and Worb5 scooterparts. Whatever head you do use the squish gap has to be checked individually everytime you (re-)assembling your engine. To avoid engine damaging it has to be over 1.0 mm!

MMW

MMW cylinder head for TS1 225 cc, Rapido 225 cc and cast iron barrels fitted with 70 mm pistons with the standard Lambretta piston dome. This is a very elaborated cylinder head with central combustion chamber! With a very tricky solution the position of the spark plug remains as from Innocenti intended despite the central combustion chamber. So the head is the perfect symbiosis of a perfect combustion geometry and everday usability. With the conventional heads with central combustion chamber you always had to disasemble the rear shock before undoing the spark. The gimmick used with the MMW head is the use of C-rated spark plugs (M10x1 thread) quite common in the motorcycle world. So you will need a different spark plug as well as a spark plug cap for C-sparks. The head is machined in a way that you do have a squish gap of 1.2 mm if your piston and top of barrel are flush at top dead centre. The uncorrected compression rate is 12:1.

AF Rayspeed’s V2005 head for 225 cc head for TS 1, Rapido, Asso and all other pistons with the standard piston dome and 70 mm bore. Here you find the first 225 cc head that is not a machined 66 mm item, but a freshly casted one. So you will find a slightly better positioned combustion chamber and much more meat for further machining even than the Indian 200 cc head has. The fins are also much thicker and aid the cooling because of the greater surface area. The compression ratio should be working quite well with unleaded 95 octane fuel. The seal surface is also enlarged. So you will find the best presupposition for further machining. Also a perfect basis for a 250 cc Rapido head. AF-Rayspeed V2005 TS1 225cc

MB Developments & Worb 5

These are specially machined cylinder heads for TS 1 and all other standard piston dome 225 cc cylinder kits. Indian heads are used as the basis for this conversion. Only those do have the required meat for proper machining. Italian and Spanish heads are not as well suited for the modifications. The heads are machined by MB Developments or Worb5. The machining is that you do receive a 1.3 mm squish gap, if you do use a 0.3 mm base and a 0.5 mm head gasket with a 58 mm crankshaft. The uncorrected compression ratio is approximately 1:11.5. A word of warning: You should always double check these details!!!

MB Developments Imola

This is the elder version of head for all Imola and Mugello cylinder kits. It comes without the bolts for centralising of the head. The heads are machined by MB Developments and are suited for the Evergreen pistons with 64 mm diameter in all important parameters like compression, squish area and squish angle. Cylinder head 175cc

Cylinder head for all pistons with 62 mm diameter and the usual Lambrett piston dome. Very well machined head which we recommend for the 175 cc kits. The quality is as high as on the machined TS 1 heads. In comparsion to the standard 175 cc heads you will find a better life span and the possibility to experiment with the degrees of pre-ignition.
