Consultation Evening a Great Success! We held our public consultation evening at The Burlington pub on Monday 8 May 2017. Over 300 visitors attended the event to meet with senior staff of The Fylde Coast Academy Trust to find out more about the developments of this exciting planned school in South Shore for youngsters aged 2-16 years old. This event was part of the statutory consultation process that we must undertake before opening of our academy in September 2018. We would like as many of the local community as possible to let us know what they think of our plans. You can do this by completing a questionnaire on our website:
Our Executive Principal Chris Lickiss, formerly Principal at Unity Academy, Blackpool will be taking the helm at the new academy. Chris said that he felt honoured to have the opportunity to be the first Principal of Armfield Academy. He said, “I am determined to ensure that our school immediately delivers at the highest level and that through high aspirations and expectations, strong discipline underpinned by traditional British values we will achieve excellent outcomes for all our students.�

Admissions We have received a large number of queries from parents wanting to know how to apply for a place at Armfield Academy for their children. The admissions for Armfield will follow the same process as other schools in Blackpool Local Authority. The admissions process for 2018 begins in October 2017. Armfield Academy Buildings Preston-based Conlon Construction has been appointed to lead the multi-million pound design and build project at Armfield Academy. The scheme was awarded as part of the Education Funding Agency (EFA) Regional Contractors Framework and will see the contractor refurbish existing accommodation and construct new buildings on the site of the former Arnold School on Lytham Road. Conlon is working closely with Chester-based Lovelock Mitchell Architects to develop plans for a space that delivers an inspiring study experience for pupils. We are currently working with Conlon and the Education Funding Agency to prepare proposed designs for the build to Blackpool’s Planning Committee, which we hope to have completed by July 2017. Site Maintenance Our consultants, Cushman and Wakefield are responsible for all security and grounds maintenance at the site on Lytham Road. We are working closely with them to develop a programme of grass cutting and border maintenance. We recognise that this is an ongoing issue for all our local neighbours.
Our Education Plan We are currently preparing our Education Plan which will be assessed by DfE and Ofsted before we open in 2018. Education planning and a broad and balanced curriculum, delivered through high quality teaching and learning will be key to achieving our vision at Armfield Academy. A draft of our Education Plan will be sent to DfE in July 2017 and when it has been agreed, will be placed on our website. Our Vision for Armfield Academy:
