ART AND DESIGN — LINEAR A LEVEL — 3D DESIGN 3D Design is aimed at students who enjoy creative problem solving through the visual conceptualisation of ideas, 2D & 3D modelling and/or realising practical solutions. In doing so, a broad range of specialist design skills will be developed together with an in-depth knowledge of graphical techniques, computer based media, materials and craft based processes. The emphasis is placed on the visualisation, practical exploration, realisation, and testing of ideas. FINE ART A Level Fine Art is a traditional facilitating subject that encompasses many approaches underpinning other Art disciplines. We teach core skills such as drawing, painting and printmaking, develop critical analysis, sculpture, photography and digital image making and build creative confidence in idea development that give students the foundation to progress within a variety of creative sectors. GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION This course aims to develop students’ ability to communicate, provoke thought and elicit reaction from an audience. Students will explore a broad range of media and techniques. Working both by hand and with the latest industry standard computer software, students will develop a visual language and illustrative approaches used for advertising, promotion and marketing. Contemporary and traditional artists’ and designers’ work are used as a source of inspiration for student’s own work and engage students in critical thinking. PHOTOGRAPHY Photography is a very successful and popular course. It is a 100% digital course, delivered through the use of DLSRs and Adobe Creative Suite. Students are encouraged to explore their own interests whilst studying. The course provides a natural progression for those who have studied Photography, Art and Design or Media at GCSE. It is a creative rather than technical course and provides those who wish to pursue a career in photography with the opportunity to progress into various creative areas. Previous student destinations include fashion photography, photojournalism, advertising and commercial photography.
