Employees Honored for Years of Service

THE CITY OF SCHERTZ IS PROUD OF OUR EMPLOYEES, AND WE ARE INCREDIBLY THANKFUL FOR THEIR GREAT SERVICE AND DEDICATION TO OUR COMMUNITY. WE ARE EXCITED TO RECOGNIZE FOUR LONG-TIME CITY EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE RECENTLY REACHED A MILESTONE YEARS OF SERVICE IN THEIR CITY CAREERS.
Wes Dailey
YEARS
Wes Dailey began his career in Schertz in January 1998. He first started with the Schertz Fire Department and then transferred to Schertz EMS as a Paramedic in 2011. Wes was born in Anchorage, Alaska where his father was in the military. They moved to the Schertz area when Wes was in grade school, and later, he attended Clemens High School. After graduating High School, Wes attended College at Sul Ross State University. After 2 years, he enlisted in The United States Marine Corp and traveled all over the world. He spent 2 years in the Far East and 3 years in Africa. Wes has one son who is 27 years old and a graduate of Texas A&M University. He has been married to his wife Tammy for over 10 years and he belongs to a very large family who are very involved in the community and the military. Some activities that Wes loves to do include traveling, scuba diving, mountain climbing, hiking, skiing, and sailing. A fun fact about Wes is that he proudly owns one of the first houses built in Schertz, and it has been in his family since the late 1970s.

25 YEARS
Bruno Sepeda
Bruno Sepeda was hired with the City of Schertz on January 5, 1998. In his position as a Facilities Maintenance Foreman, Bruno oversees all electrical, plumbing, HVAC issues, office-ready, security hardware, and carpentry. He also oversees contractors on bid-out jobs. Bruno was born in Seguin, Texas on June 14, 1972, and graduated from Seguin High School in 1998. Bruno is one of 3 siblings – he has an older sister named Rosemary and younger brother named Roman. He is the father of two sons named Bruno and Joseph. Bruno hobbies include camping, working, driving his ’57 Chevy, barbeques, listening to oldies, and spending time with his grandkids.

20 YEARS
Carl Quast
Carl Quast is a Building Inspector with the City of Schertz. He started with Public Works in the Water Department on January 22, 2003, and he later joined the Building Department to become a Building Inspector in June of 2005. Carl was born in Houston, Texas and moved to the Schertz area in the mid-90s. Carl is married to his wife, Clorice, and is a devoted father to his son Jeremy. He enjoys spending time with his family and all sports but he especially loves football (Dallas Cowboys) and Nascar (Joey Lagano). He loves the outdoors and enjoys any outdoor activity. He is an avid hunter and angler. If it is the first day of dove season, you know to find him out in the fields looking for doves.

20 YEARS
Erin Matlock
Erin Matlock first started with the city working in the Finance Department and then moved to work in Economic Development. In the EDC she handled Business Retention & Expansion where she worked closely with Schertz businesses. After being in EDC, Erin moved to the Civic Center where she has enjoyed making relationships with new clients. Erin was born in San Antonio and moved around with her military father. The best place she ever lived was Alaska. Erin attended school on military bases until middle school when her family moved back and she had her first cafeteria meal and loved it! She says everyone else hated it. Erin has had to overcome a serious health issue and she feels blessed every day to be able to have a second chance in life. Erin has three children and is a proud nana to eight grandchildren. She is happily married to her best friend and loves spending time with the family. Erin loves to read, take care of plants, watch football, and watch her grandchildren play sports. Erin says her dream job would be a high school football coach.
