Garden One Fulfilling My Dream JUDY & JEAN-MARIE BERNARD 51 Concession Street Havelock

Welcome to our garden. It is ever changing and evolving. When we moved here, we wanted a project that would keep us physically active during retirement. My husband and partner in this project builds me whatever projects I dream of, and helps with the heavy work in the garden. In addition to being ornamental, you will find many vegetables among the flowers, including bush cucumbers, bush and pole beans, beets and brussels sprouts. Enjoy your visit. You may wish to visit the Community Gardens at the east end of Havelock, next to Woody Burger.

Garden Two A Family Affair SUZANNE & MARGARET MORROW 1433 Trent Lane Hastings

Our gardens are at our cottage near Hastings on the Trent River. Although there have always been flower beds around the cottage, we extended them to cover most of our available land. It all started when we removed an overgrown hedge along the driveway and replaced it with Armour Stone four years ago. From there we used more Armour Stone to create a three-tiered garden three years ago. Then in the late summer of 2013, we started planting ornamental trees, shrubs and perennials. Each year since, we have added new elements such as hydrangeas, lilies and grasses. My daughter Suzanne and I do all the day-to-day work, with the rest of the family pitching in on bigger jobs. Truly a work in progress, with thanks to our landscaper Jack Burke.

Garden Three Pink Serenity FORREST & MARG MONTGOMERY 3 Cedar Drive Hastings

Our house is known locally as 'the house with the pink flowers', displaying several large baskets/containers of beautiful pink bubblegum petunias. This special variety of petunias produces lots of flowers, with little foliage and there is no need to dead head. They bloom continuously until November or the first frost. Three years ago we constructed a pond with a fountain, housing an abundance of goldfish, frogs and snails. Last year we added a waterfall feature. To the north side of our house is the Trent River, where you can enjoy peaceful serenity of watching the fishermen try catching their limit, or the boats travel through Lock 18. Our gardens have a variety of different hostas, hydrangea, hibiscus, calla lilies and other perennials, plus the bubblegum-coloured petunias. We hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we enjoy growing them.

Garden Four Dinwoodie Farm KATHY WILKINS & MARK HIGGINS 91 Elmore Street Campbellford

Our house was built in 1865 and was surrounded by barns, outbuildings, fields and orchards. Mrs. Dinwoodie probably had a huge vegetable patch, and we like to think our lilacs and peonies are descendants of her original farmhouse garden. All that remains of our property's agricultural past is our wonderful soil and our barn, which was originally situated where Hillcrest School now sits. The school kids say our barn is haunted! Come and see our 1.3 acre property; island beds with cottage perennials, a small vegetable garden, and our ongoing 'hardscaping' projects. As our lovely old trees age, we starting their eventual replacements using mainly Ontario native species. Welcome to our garden. Extra features at this garden will be a woodcarver, plus the 4H Gardening Club showing their gardening projects.

Garden Five A Garden Getaway on Grand Road JAYNE & JASON PATTERSON 104 Grand Road Campbellford Since 1895, our gardens have been flourishing. From Greatgrandma's old-fashioned orange poppies and purple cone flowers to Dad's tulips and lilies and now well over 50 types of hosta, our gardens have a wide variety of plants to see. We are pleased to show you our treasured oasis. Tall black walnut and golden and black locust trees offer a shady refuge, or you can sit on a pergola swing nestled between two magnolia trees as you enjoy the view and the sound of water trickling down a waterfall. There is plenty of parking at Canadian Tire, or from Grand Road turn down Raglan St. to Balaclava and you will find a parking area. Extra feature in this garden is an artist.
