Children’s book author Diane Terry will be signing copies of “The Bubble Gum Fairy” in two area locations on Saturday, Sept. 4. Diane will be at Joseph Wise Fine Clocks, 222 W. Second St. in Lakeside from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Visitors may receive a free 90-minute pass into Lakeside by requesting one at any of the gates. From 2:30 to 4 TERRY p.m., she will be at Ex Libris Bookshop, 110 W. Main St., in Marblehead. Ex Libris is a project of the Marblehead Peninsula Library Committee whose mission is to establish a library on the Peninsula. They sell used and vintage books, new books by local authors and book-related items daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Diane Terry holds a master’s in elementary education from the University of Toledo. She taught fourth- and fifth-graders in the Genoa Area Schools for 35 years and delighted in bringing creative ideas to life with her classes. Since her retirement, Diane authored her first book, “The Bubble Gum Fairy,” with her granddaughter Kalee Bartko. She and Kalee took a bedtime story and brought it to life. Now Diane is a visiting author who takes

her presentation, “There’s A Possibility” plus her “Imaginivity” Workshops into elementary schools to teach children about where ideas come from. She will excite and inspire them to find their own possibilities and live them. Kalee is now a seventh grader at Jackson Junior High, Grove City Schools in the Columbus area. She plays volleyball, babysits and loves to shop. Diane is married with two children and six grandchildren. She loves to travel, golf, garden and take photos.

Lakeside celebrates 50th annual antique show The 50th annual Lakeside Antique Show will be 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. The show, located in South Auditorium, Wesley Lodge and Wo-Ho-Mis and on the lawns of these three buildings, features more than 85 dealers. Items for sale will include china, glassware, furniture, books, quilts, fine and costume jewelry, perfume bottles, ladies accessories, sports memorabilia, Native American items, kitchenware, cookie jars, postcards, linens, vintage clothing, dolls, toys, sterling and much more. The show has been coordinated for the past 13 years by Margaret Welty and Fern Larking Kao. Admission to the grounds for the Antique Show is $6 per person for four hours and includes an auto pass. Those already inside Lakeside are not required to pay a fee to attend the show. Buying is not permitted before 9:30 a.m. As Lakeside celebrates the 50th anniversary of the show this year, the association will honor Allene Fodor as the show’s “Longest Dealer.” She will be making her 48th appearance this year. At the age of 79, Fodor is a resident of

Garrettsville, Ohio, and fell in love with books and the Lakeside community, which resulted in her setting up at the 1962 Lakeside Antique Show. As the owner of Enchanted Books, Antiques Etc., she has been a dealer at the Lakeside Antique Show ever since. “It’s been a wonderful experience. I love Lakeside,” said Fodor. The show has grown during that time from about 12 dealers to now more than 85. Fodor remembers the early years when she displayed her merchandise in the area of the old schoolhouse. Her son, David Daw, now helps his mother at the show. He was so impressed with Lakeside’s religious setting that he is now a lay minister, a long-time member of the Gideons and is working toward becoming an ordained minister. “Lakeside is a wonderful community,” Fodor said. “It’s wonderful for families. We even bought our house in Garrettsville because it reminded us of Lakeside. It all ties together.” For information, visit www.lakesideohio. com or call 866-952-5374.
