ANTARCTIC PENINSULA The Antarctic Peninsula’s west coast is a land of vast white icescapes, towering peaks and a maze of protected channels, home to an abundance of wildlife with vast colonies of penguins, seals and pods of whales. Every day will be a feast for the senses, as you savor a rare chance to witness a part of the world few have stepped foot upon. WEDDELL SEA & ANTARCTIC CIRCLE In February and March when the ice has started to break, there may be opportunities to venture further to the east coast of the Peninsula into the Weddell Sea, whose waters boast tabular icebergs and are alive with seals, penguins and whales. If conditions are favorable, follow in the footsteps of early explorers and cross the Antarctic Circle at latitude 66° 33’ South. SOUTH GEORGIA & THE FALKLAND ISLANDS South Georgia is one of the most unique and important biodiverse environments on Earth, while the Falkland Islands offer plenty of natural beauty and diversity of wildlife. Great explorers triumphed over adversity, myth and legend; these two intriguing island chains have a host of stories to share.

In late March and early April the sun sinks further below the horizon, nightly darkness returns, temperatures are still above zero although you may experience cold Antarctic nights that deliver beautiful patterns of thin sea ice. South Georgia and the Falkland Islands are teeming with unbelievable concentrations of wildlife.

• Penguin chicks are hatched and constantly feeding • Leopard seals are predatory, hunting penguin chicks • Great concentrations of whale species are feeding • Large number of Crabeater seals rest on icebergs • The ice has softened with the chance to cross the Antarctic Circle or explore the Weddell Sea

Summer comes to Antarctica and South Georgia like a revelation. Arrive as the breeding cycle reaches its peak and penguin chicks become juveniles, parents shuffle fish ashore and seal pups thrill with mock charges. Long days of discovery are filled with Humpback and Minke whale sightings, immersion in the King penguin colonies on South Georgia, observing Leopard and Elephant seals and visiting historic sites and scientific stations.

Little islands with big tales to tell. South Georgia is teeming with wildlife and exploration history, while the Britishinfluenced Falkland Islands are utterly quaint and inviting, and the great white wonder of Antarctica is spellbinding. In March, whales, seals, birds and penguins prepare for the annual migration north.
