by Siân McGuinness
Embark on a grand voyage of land and water through Southeast Asia—our most impressive journey through the region.
Explore famed destinations throughout Vietnam and Cambodia as you immerse yourself in this magical landscape. Discover life on the river as you sail along the epic Mekong River, the heart and soul of Indochina.
Guests who embark on our 21-day Grand Tour of Vietnam & Cambodia will experience all that these two dazzling countries have to offer as they embark on a journey of land, air, and water, travelling the length of Vietnam before exploring neighbouring Cambodia.

And at the heart of this epic tour, is a seven-night sojourn on board our spectacular Star-Ship, Emerald Harmony—a ship specifically designed to navigate each twist and turn the Mekong and sail right into the heart of metropolises such as Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi
The capital of Vietnam, Hanoi is truly a melting pot of cultures. This bustling city is filled with a myriad of architectural styles and retail districts overflowing with markets—and it is home to some of the country’s finest fare. Hanoi, known as the ‘City of Lakes’, is also the gateway to the iconic Halong Bay with its famous rock formations just waiting to be explored by traditional junk boat.
Hoi An
Hoi An is home to a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ancient Town—a true marvel of Vietnam’s past. Not to be missed is an evening spotting the colourful lanterns which light up this old town, as well as views of the Japanese Covered Bridge. From here, you’ll be able to visit My Son, the ruins of a Hindu temple dating back to the 4th century— a remarkable feat of architecture.

Ho Chi Minh City
Formerly Saigon, Vietnam’s second city is truly one of the most exciting places to visit in Southeast Asia. This sprawling metropolis is a tale of two cities, full of historical landmarks, such as the Saigon Opera House, and towering skyscrapers alike. Immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of HCMC’s famous indoor markets, head to a rooftop bar to view the twilight skyline, or sample some authentic Vietnamese street food.
Phnom Penh
Cambodia’s first city perfectly melds the old and the new together. The Royal Palace is a sight to behold, and its Silver Pagoda temple is filled with sacred treasures, such as the revered Emerald Buddha. And a visit to Riverfront Park at dawn provides the most spectacular sunrise. From Phnom Penh, you’ll visit the Killing Fields—a significant monument to the victims of the former Khmer Regime.
Oudong
The former royal capital of Cambodia, the ancient town of Oudong is home to one of the country’s most incredible temples, backed by Oudong Mountain. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed site plays host to religious artefacts and relics of ancient kings, as well as a famous statue of Buddha which was once destroyed by the Khmer kings. Visit the magisterial Oudong Monastery to receive a traditional Buddhist blessing from the temple’s monks.
Siem Reap
Temple districts abound in Siem Reap, Cambodia’s prized second city, the most famous of which being Angkor Wat, so special to the Cambodian people that it features on the national flag. Other highlights of the city include Tonlé Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and home to the amazing floating village of Kompong Khleang. Head for an evening on Pub Street and see how the city comes to life at night.
