Dr. Alissa Shulman of Sovereign Plastic Surgery is known for her skill in sculpting bodies. Dr. Shulman is a board certified plastic surgeon, and a gifted artist and sculptor, who focuses her talents primarily below the neck. This year, in addition to her busy practice, she is stepping forward in a more prominent way professionally as Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s first female Chief of Surgery. She also is the only woman on the board of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons and is serving as President of the Sarasota County Medical Society. Dr. Shulman is well known for her breast lifts, augmentations/reductions, and for her work with cancer patients and the support she lends to breast cancer awareness. Her artistic ability is particularly evident in her body contouring procedures — tummy tucks, butt lifts and liposuction. Dr. Shulman has elevated awareness of fat grafting in Sarasota, adding pouf to cleavage and natural curve to Brazilian butt lifts. Dr. Shulman believes in using proven techniques and has great success with the nonsurgical fat reducing treatment, CoolSculpting. She is very enthusiastic about the results from this noninvasive procedure, which requires no downtime so patients can have it done during a long lunch hour. As busy as she is professionally, Dr. Shulman is a devoted mom to her seven and nine-year-old daughters. She loves watching them develop their individual talents and personalities as she shares creative activities such as drawing, sculpting, sewing, and cooking. Working to create a more active lifestyle, Dr. Shulman has been enjoying all kinds of water activities — swimming, paddle boarding, and pushing her own envelope by scuba diving.
