The former real estate developers launched ‘Don Michael Cigars’, a full service wholesale distributer of premium cigars. They spent the next 7 years building the company and they now service over 1000 accounts throughout the U.S., including such notable companies as the Ritz Carlton, Hyatt and Marriott as well as numerous resorts and golf and country clubs. “Our business has grown every year and is the result of providing customer service that is second to none,” said Gadd. “Adrian and I were best friends, worked together in the U.K., and moved together with our families,” Reynolds said. In 2007 the “cigar czars” opened Maduro Cigar & Bar, a premium retail cigar store combining a bar and club lounge with a distinct Dominican flavor. Reynolds said that he and Gadd wanted a lively Dominican theme since many cigars are produced there. With vibrant colors to showcase the rich deep brown of the cigars and a definite tropical vibe, Maduro has become Sarasota’s top destination for cigar aficionados. Another Maduro will open in University Park this fall. With their original concept being so successful, they are fielding enquiries to open more stores under license in other states. The partners believe their business success is because every customer is made to feel like family.
