the biggest turning points of our entire lives is right before us as we are receiving a paper that represents not just the end of an era for us all, but an unlimited amount of choices in front of us, and these choices will affect our careers, our lives and most importantly above all else, who we are.” Valedictorian Emma Pompeii said that “as kids, our imagination exceeded the confinements of reality.” In addressing the use of the word “normal,” Miss Pompeii said, “normal is a strange idea ... we live around this perception that there are certain things, certain realities we need to live by … and others that just don’t fit. “We live in a society today where normal equals blending in and keeping your true self quiet and hidden so as not to be abnormal,” Pompeii said. She urged her fellow graduates that “in the future that awaits us, I hope we can each create our own normal,” and “I hope that we can all find who we truly are, and be exactly who we want to be ... I hope that we can all realize that normal is a figment of our imagination.” The Class of 2016’s gift to the school will be two large personalized floor mats to be placed at designated entrances of the school.

Playing an important part of this graduation ceremony was the musical performance by the graduation band directed by Matthew Weyant playing “Park Street Celebration” and “Pomp and Circumstance,” and the graduation chorus, directed by Kevin J.
