nspiration was served in heaping helpings Sunday alongside the hors d’oeuvres and entrees at the Eagle’s Nest in Bloomingburg. While the meal satisfied hunger for a day at most, the accomplishments and impacts of the three women honored that day continue to flow throughout the minds and hearts of hundreds, likely thousands, of people. “I came across a magnet ... that featured these words,” related Bethel resident and past New York State Women, Inc. President Pat Hendrickson, who opened the 35th annual Professional Women of Sullivan County awards dinner. “There are women who make things better… simply by showing up. There are women who make things happen. There are women who make their way. There are women who make a difference. And women who make us smile. “There are women of wit and wis-

The couple created Natural Contents after suffering through dietrelated health problems, transforming their approach to healthy eating and making a successful business out of it along the way. “I was humbled by their courage ... to pursue their passion,” said Frangipane. “… How lucky for me – and so many others – that they did!” “Since the beginning of our relationship, food has played a major role,” Gaebel said, recalling how a “conventional” diet contributed to her ongoing gall bladder attacks. “We’ve gone from fast to fresh food,” she related. The gall bladder attacks disappeared, and she and Bitetto have lost a combined 80 pounds. They’ve built upon that success, creating an educational website that not only dispenses advice but food itself. They prepare healthy, delicious dishes using local growers and providers, then deliver those meals to customers. Gaebel is also the manager and Bitetto the market assistant for the Sullivan County Farmers’ Market Association, which brings fresh food to customers all over the county. Milucky earned the Association’s Community Service Award – fitting, since as Congressman Chris Gibson observed, the list of her community service efforts “is tiring!” “She is zealous in pursuit of the goals and objectives of any organization to which she belongs,” affirmed longtime fiance Dan Briggs. “... She strives to be a valuable and contributing member.”

And that’s not just with Jeff Bank, where she’s a vice president. Milucky is a member of the Thompson Planning Board, Forestburgh Playhouse Board, SullivanArc Executive Board, Literacy Volunteers of America, Sullivan County YMCA Advisory Board, BOCES Audit Committee, and Orange County Chamber Business Committee, among others. She’s also a dedicated family person and recognized every relative who came, including her mother. “I cherish each and every one of you,” Milucky acknowledged. “I am truly blessed to have such friends, family and colleagues.” In a brief speech, she thanked everyone for the award and took time to promote her twin loves of Sullivan Arc and Literacy Volunteers, both of which aid segments of the population who might otherwise be neglected and forgotten. Milucky, Bitetto and Gaebel were each given standing ovations and local, state and federal certificates of recognition for going above and beyond. As Legislator Cora Edwards observed (modifying a Dunkin’ Donuts tagline), “Sullivan County runs on community service.” And the trio honored Sunday added new fuel to that fire – a blaze of ambition the Professional Women of Sullivan County is always trying to fan. “Each of us has a responsibility to make our community better,” affirmed Association President Adrianna Mayson Greco. “... It’s my hope that this celebration serves as an inspiration for each of you.”

Saturday and Sunday hours can also be challenging. I make sure I knock off at 4 p.m. so I’m home when Kelsey gets off the bus. I make sure she gets her homework done, meals ready, I really want to be home for her. It is a personal challenge to try and work out, drive a million miles to work and for Kelsey… but that’s OK! Favorite on-the-job moment, customer or memory: When I first got into the business I would review every house to know what to expect. We had a new listing and I didn’t get a chance to preview… it was Tommy’s listing. I had a single girl who wanted a house so I took her and her mother to see the listing. The top floor was all normal and then we were going down to the basement when I heard a loud scream. The girl fell backwards into the mom, the mom fell into me and I fell back onto the stairs just like dominoes. There were three stuffed bears in the basement, all growling. Funniest thing

Erin Allison BY ELI RUIZ

Age: 35. Place of employment: Edible Art by Erin Current title and duties: Owner... aka “Boss Cupcake”... chief cook & bottle washer? I’m a one lady Cake Bakery.. I do it all from grocery shopping and scrubbing dishes and counter tops to deliveries, Vendor Events, Baking, decorating, planning - normally called “soup to nuts” but in my case it’s “Crumbs to cakes?” Years in business: 11⁄2. I learned the basics of cake decorating in October of 2011 through Sullivan County Boces Adult Ed class. Linda Manzolillo of “Cakes by Linda,” a retiree in the industry, was my instructor Favorite part of your job: The absolute best part of my job is the reaction when a “Cuppie” (client) first sees their cake… and then later on I most generally receive a message (or photo) of how great the cakes/cupcakes tasted. Most challenging part of your job: My biggest challenge is time constraints. This is a fresh product that I produce – nothing is ever frozen or made ahead. Juggling my role as “Mom” and Business Owner is no easy task, especially of children at their age, and the fact that my business is in its Toddler stage as well. Both need constant attention around the clock. Favorite-on-the job moment, customer or memory: I actually have three in such a short period of time: The first was “the pick up” of one of

my first orders of a Hello Kitty-themed custom cake for a wonderful family in Livingston Manor. I was beyond nervous. The mom of the birthday girl was so pleased, it brought tears to her eyes (which made me cry – I’m such a mush) and she gave me a huge hug! The birthday girl, was thrilled to pieces when she saw her cake! They have been a “Regular Cuppie” from Day One. I’m truly thankful for families like theirs! The second was this past summer - a Sweet 16 cake, Blaze Orange/camoflage/4Hthemed that was delivered to the Lew Beach Firehouse. As I popped the back of my delivery car open (another) mom, gasped and held her hands to her face and bursts into tears and gave me big hugs. Did I mention I love my job? And the third was this past summer. I was selected from “Icing Smiles, Inc.,” a not-for-profit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. Simple things, like a cake, are luxuries to a family battling illness. Their goal is to create a custom cake for the ill child, or their sibling, that provides a temporary escape from

JEFFERSONVILLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL

worry and creates a positive memory during a difficult time. This is where I come in to play. I was a volunteer baker, and am now a “Sugar Angel.” I created a custom birthday cake for a lovely young girl whose sisters are ill. Doing something for someone without expecting/hoping/asking for anything in return is truly the most rewarding experience ever. I’m also thankful to my friend Jasmine at Ishot Studios for capturing this precious moment on film for me. Something I will cherish always. I love my job!

Education: Livingston Manor Central School 1996 graduate Professional certifications: Many NYS Insurance Licenses and Certifications in both Property & Casualty as well as Life and Health (15 years of being in the Industry and a hunger for knowledge will do that to you!) all still current should I decided to ever enter back into the Insurance World. Favorite movie: As a child my favorite movie was “The Dark Crystal,” as an adult, “Monster’s Inc.” How do you spend your spare time: What spare time? I’m a mom to a 4- and 5-year-old, as well as a business owner. If there was a moment of free time it might be a five-minute shower! Favorite vacation spot: St Thomas, US Virgin Islands Family: Daughter Evelyn (age 5) son Patrick (age 4), husband Scott (also known as Resident Taste Tester). Civic or volunteer affiliations: I guess technically I’m not a “volunteer” in anything right now, however, I and or my cake shop donate to several communities and organizations in the county. Favorite quote/words to live by: “What’s up cupcake?” and “Go Big or Go Home...”
