Three successful young entrepreneurs were invited to share their entrepreneurial experience in an afternoon conference. They were Lim Der Shing (Founder, Jobs Central & DrWealth), Glenndle Sim (Executive Chairman, Mencast Holdings Ltd and CEO, Mencast Group) and Rodney Tang (Managing Director, Royal T Group).

“Chinese Morals and Business Ethics Series” Sharing Session

“Sushi Making with Sunbeam Place @ Suki Sushi” Community Welfare Project On March 15, the committee together with 15 volunteers brought 16 children from Sunbeam Place to Suki Sushi for a visit to learn sushi-making and cookies decoration. At the end of the event, the participants enjoyed a buffet lunch sponsored by Suki Group.

Receiving the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce Delegation On March 19, Shawn Kao, delegation leader of the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce Singapore Trip, led a 19-member delegation to the Chamber and was received by YEN. Chia Kim Huat, Vice-Chairman of YEN and Wang Min, Delegation Advisor of SOCCC Delegation, hoped that the meeting would encourage future interaction among members and create more collaboration opportunities.

Receiving the Young Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Delegation On March 21, the YEN committee organised a visit to Sia Huat Pte Ltd and ToTT Store to receive the Young Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce delegation. The delegates participated in a course designed for second-generation business owners which focused on family business management. The 19-member delegation was led by Jedsada Sirimongkolkaem.

On April 17, the committee invited Tan Aik Hock, YEN Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Yuantai Fuel Trading Pte Ltd, to share with 100 participants on applying the philosophy of Tao Te Ching, a Chinese classic text on Taoism, to overcome difficulties plaguing their businesses. On July 3, the committee invited Assoc Prof Lan Luh Luh from National University of Singapore’s Law and Business School to share with 95 participants on “Ethics and Law of Family Businesses”. On October 13, the committee invited Tay Boon Suat, Founder of the ES Consultancy Management and Ricky Lee, President of the Society of Modern Management, Singapore to share with 50 participants on the wisdom of Tao Zhu Gong and the spirit of Confucian business thinking.

Mentorship Programme This year, YEN organised two sessions for the Mentorship Programme, with each session limited to about 25 youth members. Participants gained good insights and useful advice from the candid sharing of the Chamber’s council members. On April 24, YEN invited Chris Leong, General Manager of Leung Kai Fook Medical Co Pte Ltd, to share his experience in managing family business. On October 15, the committee invited Zhong Sheng Jian, Executive Chairman of Yanlord Holdings Pte Ltd, to share his successful entrepreneurial journey with the participants.
