On February 28, the YEN invited Lim Hock Chee, Director & CEO of Sheng Siong Group Ltd, and Paul Loo Lip Giam, Group CEO of Focus Network Agencies (S) Pte Ltd, as mentors for youth entrepreneurs in the Retail Industry. On July 11, the YEN invited Ang Kiam Meng, CEO of JUMBO Group of Restaurants, and Pang Lim, Managing Director of Koufu Pte Ltd, as mentors for youth entrepreneurs in the F&B Industry. On September 30, the YEN invited Roland Ng, Group CEO of Tat Hong Holdings Ltd, and Charles Ho, Managing Director of On Cheong Pte Ltd, as mentors for the session on “Bringing Family Business to Greater Heights”.

“Baking Good Time with Sunbeam Place” Community Welfare Project On June 14, the committee together with 16 volunteers brought 20 children from Sunbeam Place to BreadTalk IHQ for a visit to learn how to bake cookies. At the end of the event, participants enjoyed a buffet lunch sponsored by BreadTalk. The baking class was sponsored by BreadTalk and received $1,000 from the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Mentorship Site Visit To increase the effectiveness of the Mentorship Programme, the committee also followed up with company site visits for these young entrepreneurs to allow them to further understand the mentoring company’s day to day operations. Members visited Sheng Siong Group headquarters on August 16 and The Cocoa Trees headquarters on November 15.

Using Confucianism in Modern Business Management On May 23, YEN’s “Chinese Morals and Business Ethics Series” invited Pang Lim, SCCCI Council Member and Managing Director of Koufu Pte Ltd, to share with 70 participants on using the philosophy of The Great Learning, one of the four books in Confucianism, in managing his business on various levels and the practical implementation of its teachings.

New Industries Networking Series On July 22, YEN organised a Business Networking Session at PHO STOP Café + Bar for 32 participants, providing a platform for two new industry companies Produce Workshop Pte Ltd and Edible Gardens to share on their business model, current business profile and how they overcame difficulties met during the journey of being an entrepreneur.

On November 1, the YEN committee organised a visit to Sia Huat Pte Ltd and ToTT Store for the Young Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce’s committee members who participated in a course for the secondgeneration business owners which focused on the managing of family business. The delegation was led by Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce English Secretary-General and Young Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Honourable President for Life Prasong Owlarn.
