BOYCE COLLEGE derives its name from James P. Boyce, founder and first president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to being a Southern Baptist statesman, Boyce sought to innovate the world of theological education by making it more convictional, rigorous, and accessible. This vision for theological education that is biblically orthodox, academically challenging, and widely attainable, though articulated over 150 years ago, lives on through the leadership of R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Seminary and Boyce College. Today’s Christian college students and graduates will face challenges that previous generations could not have imagined. Under Mohler’s leadership, Boyce College is in a position to train students who will serve the church and engage the culture from a convictional and biblical worldview, regardless of the challenges before them.

BOYCE COLLEGE boasts a well-published faculty that is on the frontlines of evangelical scholarship, cultural engagement, and local church leadership. The same rigor they display in their own scholarship comes through in each class they teach. Being a confessional institution, Boyce is able to fill a niche among Christian colleges by being a seminary-based institution that holds fast to its convictions.

AT BOYCE COLLEGE, students can access quality education in a variety of formats, like on-campus studies, Boyce Online, Seminary Track, dual enrollment, and more. These formats prepare students from all educational backgrounds to stand on the Word of God in the ministry or vocation to which God has called them. An important aspect for all of Boyce’s degree programs and formats is community, which is not just the context for the curriculum, but part of the curriculum itself. Students at Boyce College live, worship, and grow in community with one another, giving them access to all sorts of opportunities for learning and development.

“Teachers can go places where pastors cannot go. ” ministers can’t. This pursuit to bring the gospel into hard places through education has led Jones on a journey to 10 years of teaching experience, four education degrees, several years of pastoral experience, and now training teacher education students at Boyce College. “I can go to tough places and closed

DUAL ENR OL L M E N T A college education is an investment of time and money, and with Boyce College’s dual enrollment program, you can save both. The program allows students to earn college credit while still in high school, whether they take courses online, on campus, or at their high school or home school. Dual enrollment is about more than saving time and money, though. It’s about building a foundation for the future, and there’s no better place to do that than Boyce College.

Grow in community The years students spend in college will undoubtedly be some of the most formative of their life. True Christian education is not just about receiving information or certification but about transformation. Boyce is home to students from 24 different countries, making transition difficult for some. Boyce student life helps students feel at home by cultivating an authentic biblical community that fosters mutual sanctification so that students can be healthy and effective members of the local church and, through the church, reach the world.

the road less traveled Taron Defevers didn’t travel far to get to Boyce College. His hometown of Munfordville, Kentucky, is fewer than 80 miles away from campus. Not long into his time in the Worldview Certificate program at Boyce, though, he realized he had a lot farther to go. “I didn’t come to Boyce to prepare for ministry. I came because I was confused with my faith,” said Taron. “I thought I’d just come for one year and see if I could figure things out.” At one of Boyce’s Dorm Meetings — a weekly worship gathering for the student body — Taron heard a message from a Boyce professor that made an impact. “That Dorm Meeting played a big part in my salvation story,” he said. Taron’s time at Boyce has been shaped by several professors and internship

opportunities including serving two years as Boyce Student Council president and a one-year internship with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. “The faithful Student Life leadership and concrete classroom teaching and weighty preaching ministry of the professors have had a profound impact on my life,” he said. Taron arrived at Boyce hoping to stay one year and figure things out. All of his experiences have helped the graduate do that and more. “I would like to do full-time vocational ministry in a local church,” he said. “Maybe as a family pastor or counseling pastor.” Taron completed a Biblical Counseling degree in 2016 and will transition into a church ministry internship in Southern California with high school students.
