543. Glass Fusing and Slumping Let’s explore the art of colorful glass by learning how to fuse and slump glass. You will learn the basic skills to make glass plates, coasters, bowls, and jewelry! We will start out by teaching you glass cutting basics. Students will purchase their own glass materials and may also use what is available in class. Glass work will be fired at the Sawtooth. 551. Stained Glass - Evening Class You’ll be amazed at the beautiful stained glass panel you’ll create in this 8-week stained glass class, and it is a course that you’ll want to take again and again! Beginners work on glass panels while experienced students work on projects of their own design. Learn techniques of cutting and grinding glass for your panel and assembling the pieces with copper foil or lead came. A student supply list is available at the first class. The studio is equipped with tools and equipment for use during class. Open studio hours will be available. 558. Stained Glass - Morning Class This stained glass class will accommodate novice to advanced stained glass students. Beginning students will learn basic techniques for fabricating stained glass; intermediate students will be able to hone skills in cutting, grinding, soldering, plus learn interesting techniques for foil and wire overlay, making square corners, plating and other advanced techniques. Patterns may be of students own design (designing for stained glass will be discussed) or selected from class patterns and can be fabricated in either copper foil or lead. 530. Intro to Glassblowing and Lampworking Explore the art of lampwork using glass tubes and rods to create small figurative sculpture, glass jewelry, beads, ornaments or bottles. Lecture, demonstrations and handson practice will teach the basics of the art. Included is historic and technical information on the use of glass and its properties. All materials provided. Beginners expected, repeat students welcome. Class limited to just 8 students, one per torch. 532. Glass Beadmaking - Level 1 This glass beadmaking class will set a firm foundation of skills and take beginners through all the basics of glass bead making in a flame. After you learn how to create the traditional round bead, you’ll increase skills by learning to use other tools to shape the beads and other forms of glass (stringers, frit, etc.) to give your beads their unique look. WORKSHOPS 5320. Weekend Beadmaking Workshop Have you ever wanted to make your own glass beads? Jeff will show you how! You’ll be introduced to techniques used to transform colorful Italian glass rods into beautiful beads you can string into bracelets and more. 5796. Glass Exploration Learn the process and techniques behind two of the most colorful artforms you can find... Fused Glass and Stained Glass. With two completely different projects, explore the basics of kiln-fused glass while you create a small trivet or suncatcher and then try stained glass copper-foil techniques to create another colorful glass piece the second week. 5309. Adult/Child Kaleidoscope Workshop Learn how a kaleidoscope works while construction of your work unfolds. Create a kaleidoscope where a glycerin-filled wand creates the images reflected in the mirrored interior. Each pair will work to create one kaleidoscope, or adults are welcome on their own!
