Global Mission Team: Kenya East Territory divisions—three officers and eight soldiers—spent twelve days at the Nairobi Girls’ Center, hard at work on a The Salvation Army number of the needed projects: renovating a dormitory Nairobi Girls’ Center bathroom; completely painting the dorm where the girls is a campus where live, as well as the worship center downstairs; tearing young women ages down a ceiling that was damaged in the computer lab and sixteen to twenty-six prepping the room for a new one; and building sixteen of live together and thirty-two new bunkbeds for a new group of girls learn vocational expected to arrive at the center soon. The Nairobi Girls’ Center is known for Captain Dana Cook brought money that her corps had quality education and training. The compound is a place raised to give the girls at the center a party. What a great time that was! Singing, dancing, laughing, cake and of joy and safety, but there are many projects that need to be done to the physical structures there. Around the World >>> It is encouraging to see how our World Services/Self-Denial giving is making an impact around the world! These are a few of the projects that have recently been funded by your sacrificial giving to World Services/Self-Denial. •

Cave Mountain Layer Chicken Project, Jamaica, Caribbean Territory. This project will allow the Cave Valley Corps to start selling eggs to local businesses and companies, helping to improve the financial sustainability of the corps. The funds given will cover the start-up costs for the chicken project and labor/care/food for chickens for 6 months. After that time period the project should be able to cover its own maintenance expenses and even produce an income! In Jamaica one layer chicken costs approximately $8.68 and the eggs it lays throughout its life will be sold for approximately $86.32. It is encouraging to see how even a small donation given to World Services/Self-Denial can be multiplied and make a huge difference!

Purchase of a Four-Wheel Drive Vehicle for THQ, Congo Brazzaville Territory. This Territory has only one four-wheel drive vehicle, which is used every day at THQ, including for officers' transfers. Their vehicle was purchased in 2009 but is now worn out. The project will make it possible to replace the vehicle with a used but strong/reliable vehicle. The four-wheel drive feature is essential due to the conditions of roads, especially in outlying areas.

Dias Place Building Renovation, Colombo, Sri Lanka Territory. Dias Place Corps is situated in the heart of an extremely poor inner city area of Colombo. The corps members are working hard to serve the needs of the surrounding community, and the renovation of this building will provide them with additional space from which to run programs and offer community services. Renovations include plastering/painting of walls, replacement of fixtures, replacement of doors and window grills, laying of tile floors and benches, and electrical work. The Salvation Army is currently serving in over 130 countries! In addition to ongoing spiritual and practical ministry, Salvationists around the world are ready to step in and provide assistance when emergencies strike! This map, first published in the October-December 2018 issue of All the World magazine, shows where The Salvation Army has provided emergency response assistance from 2013-2018.

Overseas Personnel>>> The past few months have been full of change for our overseas personnel! Colonel Evie Diaz has had a change of appointment and is now serving as Chief Secretary, International Headquarters with a promotion to the rank of Colonel. The Ezeh family is preparing to take on new appointments in St Maarten in July. Please be in prayer for Matthew as he will be completing his final year of school in a new country. We are pleased to announce that there are 4 Central Territory officers who have recently departed for overseas service!

Regeneration>>> During this year’s Regeneration Conference for young adults, delegates were challenged to contribute toward the completion of a Salvation Army thrift store for the Palmetto Point Corps in Eleuthera, Bahamas. The Palmetto Point community does not have any clothing or household goods options— Palmetto Point Thrift Store in progress. just a small hardware store and a few shops Donations from that sell a limited number of groceries. The Regeneration will allow corps provides community members with the building to be food and clothing on a limited basis. A small completed. thrift store will allow the corps to better be able to provide for the needs of people who come for assistance by giving them clothing and household goods, and by raising money to help fund those in need. Palmetto Point Corps has had a relationship with the USA Central Territory since 2006, as Summer Mission Team (SMT) has run the corps’ VBS program each summer. Many SMT members have served at Palmetto Point over the years and found the corps soldiers to be mentors in their lives during their short visits. During the Regeneration weekend an offering and pop-up thrift shop fundraiser led to about $2,180 being raised for the Palmetto Point Thrift Store. THQ will also contribute a matching grant. We are happy to be able to give back to the Palmetto Point Corps through the Thrift Store Project, knowing it will increase the ministry opportunities in their village for the glory of God.
