Senior Awards

The Sartan Cheer Team had an exceptional 2022-2023 season, filled with achievements and growth. The season kicked off at The Varsity Spirit summer camp, where several Sartans were recognized as All-Americans for their outstanding performance and enthusiasm. Senior Krystal Lucero and sophomores Eva Chaidez and Isabella Pacheco were chosen to represent SPX in the prestigious Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Throughout the season, the team participated in various local competitions, showcasing their skills and spirit. They secured a remarkable 1st place win at the Rio Rancho Spirit Rally, demonstrating their talent and dedication. The success continued with a 1st place win for Cheer with Music and a 3rd place win for Game Day at The Spirit of Hope competition.

Cheer also successfully qualified for Regionals, highlighting their excellence and earning them a spot in the highly anticipated National competition held in Anaheim, CA. At Nationals, the team showcased their versatility by performing two routines: Game Day and Cheer with Music. Their hard work paid off as they achieved remarkable results, doing extremely well in both categories. The season concluded at the NMAA State Competition, where the Sartans represented SPX with a competitive showing.

Overall, the Sartan Cheer Team had an incredible season, marked by team victories and personal growth. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport were evident in every competition in which they participated.

Dorados Recap

The Dorados had a remarkable season filled with performances, competitions, and achievements that showcased their talent, versatility, and dedication in various events, bringing year-long and international recognition to SPX. In the pre-season, Dorado seniors Briza Flores and Erica White, and Meredith Smith, junior, were named All-Americans by Varsity Spirit Dance and Cheer Competitions.

The “Golden Ones” started their season with performances at all varsity football games, adding energy and entertainment. They also had the opportunity to perform at some varsity boys and girls basketball games, showcasing their talent during halftime and cheering our Sartans on to victory. Keeping with tradition, the Dorados organized the highly anticipated Winter Showcase, featuring solo performances, exclusive Dorados’ timeout dances, and competition pieces. This Christmas event allowed them to showcase their hard work and skills. During the Christmas break, White and Smith represented SPX internationally as they traveled to participate in The London New Year’s Day Parade as All-Americans.

In the spring, the Dorados hosted a Junior Dorados dance clinic where younger aspiring dancers could learn from them and improve their skills. In addition to the showcases and clinics, the Dorados had an extremely competitive season, winning 3rd for their Pom routine at the APS Spirit Invitational Competition. They received two 1st place finishes in Pom and Hip Hop in their division at the Rocket Spirit Blast competition at Goddard High School. The Dorados then competed at the APS Metro Competition held at Atrisco Heritage Academy and won 3rd place overall. Their performance impressed the judges and highlighted their showmanship and teamwork. The Dorados finished their season competing at the NMAA Spirit State Competition held at The Pit. In the 4A division, they secured 4th place overall, representing SPX with the pride and talent for which the Dorados are known.
