9.6_LA RIQUALIFICAZIONE DELLE STRADE 9.6_STREET REHABILITATION Azione importante della prima fase di progetto è la riqualificazione degli spazi pubblici. Un investitore istituzionale dovrebbe realizzare l’infrastrutturazione delle strade e delle piazze come presupposto per gli interventi successivi. Quest’azione è, infatti, generalmente intesa come il progetto volano per eccellenza, generatrice di benefici indiretti, i cui risultati spesso superano quelli diretti. La possibilità che investitori privati possano intervenire nel quartiere è data, infatti, anche dalla manifestazione d’interesse delle autorità e dalle condizioni di partenza del quartiere. Dai risultati dell’inventario sugli spazi pubblici emerge che le uniche strade sufficientemente infrastrutturate sono quelle tangenti il quartiere, a dominanza veicolare. Le strade interne ad Arab al Yassar mancano invece della pavimentazione, di canali di scolo, di arredo urbano.
An important action of the first phase of the project is the redevelopment of public space. An institutional investor should carry out the improvement of the infrastructure of streets and squares as a precondition for subsequent interventions. This redevelopment is, in fact, generally seen as the driving force of the project par excellence, generating indirect benefits often surpassing direct ones. The possibility that private investors could intervene in the neighborhood is also influenced by the authorities’ demonstration of interest and by the initial conditions of the neighborhood. The results of the inventory of public space shows that the only roads sufficiently equipped are those tangential to the neighborhood, where vehicles are dominant. The internal streets of Arab al Yassar don’t have pavements, drains, or adequate street furniture.
