ca e tutta la Salah Salem mancano di ombreggiamento, creando un’apprezzabile isola di calore. La rumorosità, forte in corrispondenza delle arterie tangenti il quartiere, diminuisce in maniera consistente salendo verso la Cittadella. La qualità urbana data dalla vista panoramica dell’intorno è in molti casi alta. Da molti punti di Arab el Yassar si gode infatti di una vista privilegiata della Cittadella. Dalla valutazione complessiva dei parametri finora esposti e delle osservazioni sul campo si è giunti alla definizione della qualità dell’ambiente urbano degli spazi aperti di Arab el Yassar. E’ importante evidenziare la buona e ottima qualità dell’ambiente all’interno del quartiere e, in contrapposizione, la scarsa e pessima qualità delle strade tangenti al quartiere. Le indicazioni progettuali che si possono trarre sono la necessità di conservare l’ambiente tradizionale degli spazi più interni e di mitigare gli effetti negativi degli assi ai limiti del quartiere.

The hard-surfaced space in front of the public housing blocks and the whole Salah Salem are lacking shading and thus suffering from a perceivable heat island effect. Noise is quite hard close to the expressways sorrounding the district, while it diminish consistently towards the Citadel. The level of urban quality is generally high due to the panoramic view of the sorrounding areas. Infact, there are many viewpoints towards the Citadel within the Arab-el-Yassar district. Through the overall judgement of the above described parameters together with the field observations, we derived a definition of the urban quality of spaces in Arab-el-Yassar. It seems important to underline that to a good and excellent quality of the inner spaces of the district corresponds a low and poor condition of the outer tangential streets. The design guidelines that can be drawn concern the need of preserving the traditional environment of the inner spaces and mitigate the negative effects of the road axis on the district’s borders.
