7 - revitalization of alkhalifa’s courtyards Repurposing Urban Courtyard
Location: Near Fatma Khatoun Mausoleum, Al-Khalifa City Team of 7 students Course Objective: A studio competition in collaboration with Megawra, where our winning project would be supervised and executed in the next phase. In studio (phase I), we thoroughly analyzed the streets, buildings and activities in the area using observations and interviews. Then we composed a concept and designed accordingly. On site (phase II), we focused our research on the courtyard itself, which put us into perspective. We did several interviews and got to know all residents in the 8 households surrounding the court. Then, using a very limited budget, we set priorities and formulated a new concept and design to suit their specific needs.
