SARA BRINK
UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO
I am pursuing a career in interior design because I have a passion for creating spaces that influence people’s lives in a positive way. Space has the power to define behavior and movement, evoke emotions, and bring people together. I believe these actions can be achieved through the use of practical, yet creative interior architecture and art, as well as sustainable practices.

Objective: To design the interior and exterior of a series of guest pods, as well as a main hub, and create a hospitable experience for travelers. Location: Northern Iceland Programs Used: SketchUp, Photoshop Third Year Studio
I C E L A N D I C H O S P I TA L I T Y
Main Hub Consists of two shapes - a primary rectangle and secondary circles. The rectangle is made of an ultra lightweight concrete to represent the permanence, while the circular structures are made of a curved glass to symbolize how they are bound to the rectangle. Program: reception, open kitchen/dining, office, lounge area, Northern Lights viewing space
Guest Pod Follows the same rules of form and materiality of the main hub. The shapes are bound to one another, just as guests are metaphorically bound to their pods after a long day of travel. Program: lounge area, bedroom with view of Northern Lights, bathroom, closet
Objective: To utilize an existing space that creates a flexible and long-lasting office environment for the Livewell Collaborative - a local non-profit organization that was rapidly expanding and in need of a customized workplace. Location: 2900 Reading Rd, Cincinnati, OH Programs Used: Revit, Photoshop Second Year Studio

Finding comfort in the natural environment and bringing those environmental elements into the office space. By utilizing the space’s natural sunlight, including green walls, and using slanted ceilings to symbolize a canopy of trees, employees can feel as comfortable indoors as they would under a canopy of trees. In addition, furniture pieces and sliding doors promote flexibility. Program: gallery, kitchen, open collaboration space, open office area, one closed office, flexible public/private design studios

STUDIO WORKSPACE
Objective: To study the composition of line, plane, and form using multiple mediums and design charrettes, that eventually lead to a full-scale spatial structure to study human movement within a space. Mediums Used: chipboard, museum board, paper, gouache, marker, MDF sheets, 2 x 4’s First Year Studio
S PAT I A L S T U D I E S
Objective: To create an 8’x8’x8’ structure that allows human movement through the space. Constraints: Use only given amount of 2x4’s and MDF sheets, with one optional additional material. Our group’s idea comprised of two overlapping rectangles. One used planks to suggest the main entrance, and the other used solid MDF for a more enclosed, private area. Parts of the back and top of the folly are covered with canvas to allow light into the space.
