HELLO SANTEE!
As the summer season draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the vibrant few months we've experienced here in Santee. As usual, this summer has been one of community, celebration, and growth, marked by the success of our annual Santee Street Fair and the many local activities that brought our residents and visitors together. The fair, traditionally held over Memorial Day weekend, kicked off the summer with over 200 vendor booths, live entertainment, homage paid to fallen heroes, and diverse food offerings, and truly showcased the spirit of Santee. It was heartening to see so many people come out (over 30,000 for those wondering) to support our local vendors and small businesses, reaffirming the strength of our community ties. Be sure to check out the “Socializing Santee” feature on Page 32 for images from the eventful day.

As we transition into fall, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Our focus will shift towards an upcoming election season, schools being back in session and workforce development and career readiness collaborations, and our annual golf event as we augment our offerings for the day by hosting a veterans resource expo for the public alongside the tournament. As San Diego celebrates Restaurant Week in late September, in this issue, we look at some of our familyowned eateries around town and celebrate these local restaurants that have become a cornerstone of our business community. These establishments, many of which have been serving our town for decades, represent more than just places to eat. They are the heart and soul of Santee, where generations have gathered to create lasting memories over shared meals. These eateries play a crucial role in defining the character of our town. As we look forward to the fall season, I encourage everyone to continue supporting these local treasures. Let’s celebrate the families who pour their hearts into their businesses and, in doing so, make Santee a warm and welcoming place for all. Together, we can ensure that our local businesses thrive, preserving the unique charm of our town for generations to come.
