SUMMER WORKSHOP 10th ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE and GALLERY SHOW Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 4 to 7pm This summer marks the 10th Anniversary of our annual SAX STONECARVING WORKSHOPS. Since our first workshop in 2001, we have hosted one to four workshops every summer, inviting some of the best instructors in the world to come and share their knowledge with students from all over the planet. This year’s first workshop in July was taught by guild certified master carver, Nicholas Fairplay. Teaching the second workshop, August 7-13, is Joseph Kincannon, former lead stonecarver at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and guest artist, Kazutaka Uchida, of Tokyo, Japan. Rift Gallery is also celebrating our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY throughout this summer! We are delighted to present work by artist, Ebby Malmgren. Ebby was a guest artist at last year’s stonecarving workshops, and she made a stunning array of prints – inspired by (and made using) stonecarving tools. Work by gallery artists, including Michelle Goodman, Petro Hull, Erica Lohan, Kari Rives, Mark Saxe, and Betsy Williams will also be shown. Mark’s Stonecarving Tools Ebby Malmgren, 2009
