Nature Lover
Western Australia native ALANA CLUMECK ’s solo exhibition “Wallflower” is currently on display through December 31 at Wendy Foster Los Olivos, 805-686-0110, wendyfoster.com. Clumeck grew up in an artful abode but didn’t take to the canvas until a few years ago. Now she’s known for her vibrant visions of wildlife, cowboy culture, and flowers. “‘Wallflower’ is a play on words. In old Australian slang, a wallflower is a bit of an introvert but of full personality if you dig deep enough to get to know them,” says the Santa Ynez-based mom of two. “I wanted my paintings to not only be aesthetically pleasing but also have substance.” The artist recently paired up with ER Leather Goods’ Emily DaFoe for a cool collab—Clumeck’s vibrant florals painted onto Dafoe’s signature whipstitch clutches. Designer, stylist, and visual merchant Marie Ferris has brought her own flair to Montecito’s Upper Village with JUNIPER . Ferris is no stranger to the boutique business, previously owning an upscale shop in Del Mar for 16 years. Juniper’s stylistic feel is “fashion edged by hints of romantic sensuality and the coziness of casual comfort,” she says of the charming storefront with white-walled interiors featuring brands such as Alice+Olivia, Mate, Calvin Rucker, and more. 525 San Ysidro Rd., Montecito, 805-618-8467.
