Travel around Phuket is easy and convenient with a myriad of car rental operators serving car at the airport. In case of self-driving, GPS or map will enable one to travel around the Island. Also airport transfer taxis connecting airports to different landmarks around island are generally available. The locals usually use the colourful shared taxi called ‘Po-tong’. This shared taxi journey is a good fun way to explore and get in touch with local livelihood.

Chinese New Year New Year holidays for Chinese descents of Phuket mean many auspicious activities including Gods worshiping, Dragon dance. Chinese New Year is according to Chinese lunar calendar. Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Sri Sunthorn Festival 13 March every year marks the date of the heroic acts of Phuket’s two heroines had defended the city from enemy. Turtle Release Tradition This means to conserve sea turtles, so there are a number of organised turtle hatchling release events in various beaches around Island on 13 April every year. Seafood Festival It takes place in May with all the lively parades and booths and stalls from top seafood restaurants and outlets.
Moon Worship Festival The festive holiday is observed by the worship of the Moon by moon cakes and other Chinese treats on full moon night of the 8th month on Chinese lunar calendar. Vegetarian Festival The festival can be during September to October. Phuketians will worship gods and have only vegetarian diets. Their local deity images are taken, decorated, and paraded on the main streets. 10th month Feast The tradition is to express gratitude to dead ancestors by worshipping of certain traditional Chinese treats. Phuket King’s Cup Regatta This grand event is held on 5 December at Nai Harn Beach and has been participated by many leading international yachts. 5

Saikaew - Mai Khao Beach These two connecting beaches are the longest stretch of beach in the Island. During November to February, it is the season that sea turtle will lay their eggs on this beach. Nai Yang Beach This beach situates in National Park, and is popular for camping and picnicking. Nai Thon Beach The tranquil beach has been ranked best for sunbathing. Bang Tao Beach This open beach is rather windy, so it is ideal for surfers and sailors. It hosts an annual event of Laguna Phuket Triathlon in December. Kamala Beach This beach is for those who enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving as well as this is a chance to appreciate local Muslim fishermen communities. Patong Beach Patong never sleeps with its daytime water sport activities and a vividly glowing nightlife along the beach line.
Kata-Karon Beach These two sister beaches are ideal to for those enjoy the sea with their powder like sand beach evenly throughout the beach. Rawai Beach The beach offers nice restaurants along the line of beach where one can enjoy the feast with sea view. Chalong Bay It is known for its viewpoint as well as piers and marina. It is a hub connecting to other smaller islands. Phi Phi Island Phi Phi is one of the finest diving sites in Andaman Sea with a pristine coral reef. Siray Island The Island is home the biggest fisherman community in Phuket. Prom Thep Cape This is the best view point to enjoy the most majestic sunset view of the Island. 7

Sirinat National Park The Park lies between Nai Yang Beach to Mai Khao Beach offering its shades with a collection of pine trees and other floras along the beach line. Kathu District was once the largest source of tin in Phuket. The tin mines built by people in the past still exist and have been converted into a museum for the benefit of later generations. Chinpr acha House This old house was constructed in later in the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), at the turn of last century in Sino-Portuguese architecture, first of its style in Phuket. The owner was Prapitak Chinpracha and the estate has been inherited to later generations of family to the late Mr. Pracha Tantavanich, and now ‘Aunty Dang’ Mrs. Charoonrat Tantavanich, the wife of Mr. Pracha. The estate is open to public to revisit the glamorous past of Phuket. All materials were imported during the high time of trade via Penang – floor tiles from Italy, wall bricks from The Netherlands, furniture is inheritance from old generation. This house is also last of its kinds which can maintain the interiors of an old Phuketian family house intact.
