1. GLOBAL THERMOPLASTIC VULCANIZATE (TPV) – MARKET OVERVIEW 1.1.

SCOPE

Dynamically Vulcanized thermoplastic (TPV) is a particular type of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) which offers superior properties in most ways to thermoplastics, especially PVC. TPV’s offer excellent resistance and flexibility characteristics of vulcanized rubber with the processing ease of thermoplastics. TPV’s are a blend of polypropylene and EPDM which are its main raw materials. Apart from that PP/NR and PP/ EOC can also be taken into consideration. They provide outstanding resistance to ozone, heat, weathering and various chemical. The ability to recycle TPV is becoming an increasingly important benefit as it reduces cost and waste. This study gives detailed information about the product value chain right from the beginning which includes raw materials till end-use. The market is evaluated based on the key attributes such as the power in the hands of producers and consumers, analysis on the degree of competition, and threats from substitutes and new entrants Among a wide range of manufacturers, some major players dominating the Global Thermoplastic Vulcanizate Industry are BASF SE, Huntsman Corporation, Dow Chemical Company, Arkema SA, Lubrizol Corporation, Advanced Elastomer systems and other key players.

2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (TPV) or dynamic vulcanizates are itself a commercially high valued group of polymer blends. They contain finely dispersed micron-size rubber particles in a thermoplastic matrix which give peculiar properties of conventional vulcanized elastomers with the ease of thermoplastic melt processes. In most of the cases it consists of vulcanized EPDM and PP matrix. With ever growing market, TPV’s have got ample applications among various fields. The excellent properties of this material make it ideal to satisfy the demanding requirements of automobile and industrial sectors.
