No matter your age, fall’s arrival always brings the urge to upgrade your wardrobe (blame childhood’s yearly back-to-school shopping trips), so it is the perfect timing for our inaugural Style issue. We have scoured the globe to bring you the best fashion, watches and jewelry for men and women. From sparkling gems in Jaipur, India to Spanish fashion in Madrid’s sunny streets and Fendi’s impeccable Italian craftsmanship in Tuscany, we have left no stone unturned in our search for the finest, and most timeless, pieces out there. In our fashion shoot, we take fall’s ultimate runway trend, monochrome dressing, to the bucolic British countryside’s historic Monkey Island Estate, which recently reopened as a luxury hotel and chic hideaway in Bray, England. We also speak to designer extraordinaire Christian Louboutin about his obsession with travel and his affinity for Bhutan, where he designed a collection with local artisans (aptly named LouBhutan) to celebrate the country’s artistic traditions. The third edition of the year’s Top 50 Watches presented a particular challenge to Roberta Naas, our contributing timepiece editor and one of the world’s preeminent watch journalists. As watchmakers continually strive to outdo each other, narrowing down the field to 50 watches is a tough job, requiring multiple trips to Switzerland to see the watches in person. If you’re looking to get away rather than shop, take to the high seas with our Top Yacht Itineraries. You’ll find exclusive journeys and the yachts to charter in each destination. More of a landlubber? Jet off to the city by the bay with our roundup of the Top Suites in San Francisco. We also have guides to the capital of country music, Nashville; an exploding metropolis in China, Macau; a sultry Spanish city, Seville; and a relaxing island vacation spot, the Seychelles. Did your favorite watch make the list? Are there any destinations you want to know more about? As always, you can reach us at editorial@elitetraveler.com

STYLE THE VOYAGER

Hawa Mahal in Jaipur

by Kristen Shirley

THE VOYAGER Shalini Kasliwal No trip to Jaipur, India would be complete without visiting the historic Gem Palace. Generations of travelers, royalty and celebrities have come to ogle traditional Indian jewelry, sensational diamonds and significant stones. Now, siblings Samir and Shalini Kasliwal, the ninth generation to work in the family business, run the company in India and in the US. While the half-Italian, half-Indian beauty calls New York City home, she spends a significant amount of time in Jaipur and in Italy, where she grew up. The duality of her childhood affects her in many ways, and she has a distinctive style in Jaipur. The region is known for beautiful block prints, and Shalini can’t get enough of them — she created her own line of dresses, Shalia, that features traditional block prints and modern, Indianinspired silhouettes. She loves to shop at Anokhi, which sells typical Indian clothes, as well as some of Jaipur’s coolest concept stores: Teatro Dhora and her brother’s store, Parampara. And of course, she wears stunning jewels as often as possible. “I love to stack bracelets, but when I’m here, I love to wear important jewelry like a choker. I love huge earrings, especially diamonds. I don’t get to wear that type of jewelry all the time. Certain pieces of jewelry you can’t wear anywhere else.” The Gem Palace
