Chefs from Don Ignacio Restaurant win silver medal in Miami, Florida in the Americas Chef Competition The sixth Americas Chef Competition was one of the main attractions of the Americas Food & Beverage Show & Conference. This event was held on October 26th and 27th at the Miami Beach Convention Center - World Trade Center during two intense days of stiff competition, in which chefs from countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico and Argentina competed to obtain the title of Best Chef in the Americas. All of the participants demonstrated great talent and different culinary skills before a panel of judges composed of Master Chefs from the American Culinary Federation. Participation in the event was a considerable achievement for all of the chefs, especially Alexander Zamora and Jonathan Lira from Don Ignacio Restaurant (San Ignacio`s College Restaurant) in Doral, Florida, who drew attention and praise. Congratulations to Alexander and Jonathan, Chefs of Don Ignacio Restaurant for their outstanding performance and achievement!


Students from Chile and India interested in obtaining double degrees at San Ignacio College in Miami to improve their employability in the globalized job market Carla Olivieri, the International Business Development Manager at San Ignacio College, and Alex Azcuy, Director of San Ignacio College, traveled to India and Ms. Olivieri visited Chile as well, due to growing interest among universities and institutes specializing in culinary art that realize the importance of obtaining international experience in order for their students to enhance their resumes, making them more attractive to employers in different countries, as well as in their own.

Special invitation for our Chef and Academic Director of Culinary Arts, David St. John-Grubb San Ignacio Chef and Academic Director of Culinary Arts David St. John-Grubb was invited to Lima to teach a demonstration class on organic vegetarian cuisine at the Culinary Arts School in La Molina and in North Lima, where he shared innovative new techniques for preparing international cuisine with the students.

Chef David St. John-Grubb participates in Paul Bocuse workshop David St. John-Grubb also had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with one of our international partners (Paul Bocuse), where he led workshops and taught demonstration classes with the best chefs in our alliance. The alliance with France’s Paul Bocuse is very important to us, as this institute has a very prestigious group of people recognized worldwide. Institut Paul Bocuse has only 12 partners in the entire world and San Ignacio College is proud to be one of them.

The game is on: San Ignacio College has started its accreditation process After complying with the requirements to start the process (workshop attendance, at least two years of operations and having graduates), San Ignacio College has begun the accreditation process with the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). This is a very important project for the school that will help us raise our quality standards. In order to complete the process successfully, San Ignacio College is making important changes in the school´s structure to meet ACICS requirements and provide the best service for our students, staff and faculty.

New team members at San Ignacio College We would like to welcome Guillermo Barragan, the new Director of San Ignacio College. Mr. Barragan’s role is mainly managerial, as he is responsible for the school’s financial and marketing results, as well as for supervising all areas of San Ignacio. We would also like to welcome Monica Osorio, the new Admissions Officer and Guidance Counselor; Carmen Osorio, the new Admissions Officer; and Erika McCarthy, the new Receptionist and Student Guidance.

Best wishes to the future mom: We wish the best of luck to Ruth Bermudez (Academic Records), who will be a first time mom shortly and has started her maternity leave.

Dinner for Miami-Dade School Board Candidate held at Don Ignacio Restaurant, Miami Well-known local politicians including Carlos Curbelo and the mayor and commissioners of Doral, Florida, chose Don Ignacio Restaurant as the scene of an important social event to support Mr. Curbelo’s candidacy for the Miami-Dade School Board. Everyone had the opportunity to try the delicious dishes prepared by San Ignacio College and Don Ignacio Restaurant students and chefs.

Meeting with Faculty, Staff and Students On Tuesday, November 16, an important meeting was held with the San Ignacio College faculty, staff and students. Carla Olivieri, our International Business Development Manager, traveled to Miami for the occasion to make several important announcements, among them the upcoming launch of our new San Ignacio College website, where all of our chefs will have the opportunity to publish their recipes and make use of other new tools. At this entertaining meeting, where hors d’ouerves and cocktails were served, our new staff and the accreditation process underway were also discussed. Carla Olivieri took advantage of this meeting to emphasize the advantages that San Ignacio College has to offer and commented on the possibility of offering International Programs on subjects such as Cooking, Leadership and Entrepreneurship through videoconferencing with our locations in Lima.
