The Mask Project
Julia Shack Sackler, Camille Croll, Kyle Wolfe, Wyatt Cook, Frankie Garofalo, Mark Whittaker, Caroline Kruk and John Lawrance read and discussed Albert Camus' L'Étranger in great detail before embarking upon this project. It was a culminating activity that brought together many ideas in the novel and the ways in which they are pertinent to the students' daily lives. They created their masks by carefully covering their face, including in some cases, the eyes and mouth, with plaster of Paris strips, waiting for it all to dry, then carefully peeling it off and painting it inside and out.
