Sanford Bemidji Travel Medicine Gifts and souvenirs are important to the travel experience. The best gift, though, is feeling good while vacationing. Making an appointment with Sanford Health’s Travel Medicine Clinic before an overseas vacation can help travelers stay healthy during their trip. Nurses at the Travel Medicine Clinic do a comprehensive analysis of individual travel plans, and equip travelers with knowledge and medications that can be very handy if they fall prey to maladies common to the area where they are traveling. “We tell travelers what diseases are possible and what vaccines are recommended for where they are going,” said infectious disease specialist Dr. Mateen Rahman, who reviews all travel itineraries. “We give them medications to take along that can help with possible problems.” Ideally, appointments with the Travel Medicine Clinic should be made three months in advance. The TMC is located at the Sanford Main Clinic. To make an appointment, call (218) 333-5000.
