THE WELL-DESIGNED KITCHEN AND BATH

WOOD-MODE FINE CUSTOM CABINETRY

For 75 years, Wood-Mode has been producing high-quality cabinetry with time-honored techniques that blend timeless craftsmanship and functionality with a fashionforward approach to design.

For affluent homeowners and designers, Wood-Mode products are easily recognizable, from their wide variety of stains and finishes, to well-proportioned door styles and detailed moldings. But the high-end cabinetry manufacturer goes beyond the surface with smart features, such as motion technology for doors, unique storage solutions and integrated lighting, that increase the functional use of any space. “The integration of LED lighting into Wood-Mode cabinet interiors continues to evolve and will become more prevalent,” director of design John Troxell says. “Technology and design innovations have made former challenges, such as interior, recessed vertical lighting and drawer bank lighting, a standard option now.” When discussing trending styles, Troxell says transitional and contemporary looks continue, drawing on recycled materials or midcentury modern details to define the effect. No matter the style, the team at Wood-Mode agrees—cohesion is key. And when starting any renovation, they offer these tried-and-true tips: Do your homework; develop a wish list; establish a budget and a time frame; and collect images of rooms, features and products you like. Troxell adds, “A growing array of materials and finish applications will provide consumers and designers with greater possibilities to create kitchens and other rooms that are uniquely personal.”

WOOD-MODE ON … ILLUMINATION + INNOVATION Wealthy urban and suburban homeowners are increasing the square footage of their kitchens, combining multiple spaces into one large, open-concept area. This provides us with a lot of opportunities, including custom-made furniture like bookcases and desks, along with breakfast nooks and multipurpose islands. Designers and homeowners also have the option to select species and finishes that complement or contrast within their design. Other trends include interior lighting with integrated LED, under-cabinet and in-cabinet options. We continue to be inspired by advances in storage and functionality as well. And metal is making its mark, with stainless-steel countertops and metallic fronts for cabinets increasing in demand.
