DIET DONE RIGHT When it comes to getting in shape, many people cut out certain foods, namely natural sources of carbs that should be part of your diet. Celebrity nutritionist Christine Avanti says that good carbohydrates like fresh fruits and veggies should always be consumed. “Our body needs them, combined with lean proteins. The body breaks down muscle tissue when you avoid carbs,” she says. So what should you avoid at all costs? “Processed foods, meaning all white flours, sugars, salts and trans fats. They are poison for the body and keep the weight on.” If you feel like your weight loss is plateauing, Avanti says it could be that you are losing fat, but gaining muscle. “Have your body fat tested before beginning any type of weight-loss program, and then again every week thereafter.”

Lean and sexy BEFORE

Out of shape Prior to her body makeover, Linda weighed 130 pounds, but her biggest problem was that at 43 years old, she was out of shape and found it difficult to get motivated to work out. “I went through a midlife crisis where I wanted to make a change to look and feel better about myself,” she says.

Trainer and nutritionist Lyzabeth Lopez’s program incorporated heavy weighted exercises, leaning, toning and cinching exercises using HIIT, and Pilates for the legs, arms and waist. Linda also followed a holistic whole food diet, which gave her energy while keeping her body lean. “For the first few months, I was just working out. But it was when I started to diet that I began to lose weight. I lost 15 pounds in three months and reshaped my body into the one I always wanted,” she says.

Focused on her flaws Tamara had tried a handful of workout programs that left her feeling dizzy.
