As aesthetic preferences come and go in residential design, only to return again in the future, one trend in the window covering industry has remained a constant: products that “bring the outside in.” Austintatious Blinds & Shutters of Austin, a well-respected purveyor and installer of window treatments, knows this better than most. “Whether we are installing invisible window film on glass for added protection or installing automated outdoor solar shading systems on a patio, the common theme is always making sure that we are inviting the outdoors in,” says co-founder Norma Catano. Shades are now motorized; they can communicate and operate with other smart home devices, such as Nest, Alexa and Philips Hue lighting,” explains co-founder Tracey Hopkins.
