ABOUT SDGBC The San Diego Green Building Council is a local 501c3 community benefit non-profit organization, driven by a vision of the future where our buildings and communities will regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life within a generation. The San Diego Green Building Council is the official chapter of the US Green Building Council in San Diego and host to the San Diego Living Building Challenge Collaborative. Our programs and partnerships are designed to support our mission: to inspire, educate and collaborate within our community to transform our built environment toward true sustainability. Check out our Events Calendar to see all of our upcoming events online at www.usgbc-sd.org/Calendar. Some of our key programs and events include:

GREEN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Green Assistance Program is a hands-on learning opportunity for anyone who is looking to advance their knowledge of green buildings, the LEED certification rating system, and regulations driving sustainability in the built environment. Since 2010, over 100 volunteers contributed to the LEED certification of local non-profit facilities such as the Old Globe Theatre, the Air and Space Museum, and the World Beat Center, under the Existing Buildings Operations + Maintenance rating system. In 2015, our volunteers will have a chance to work on the LEED certifications of the Museum of Man, the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank, and the Jacob’s Center for Neighborhood Innovation. Applications for the Jacobs Center will be accepted until October 7th; GAP for the Food Bank will kick-off shortly thereafter.

MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL EVENTS

The Monthly Educational Events are one of two event types: Lunch+LEEDs and Green Meets / Green Salons. These fun and casual gatherings bring educational content from local experts, include tours of San Diego’s greenest projects, and provide updates from policy-makers to our member community and the general public. Our next Green Salon event will be at the Copley-Price Family YMCA, on Wednesday, October 21st.
