As of the publishing of this newsletter, there are NO active solicitation permits that have been issued to anyone allowing them to go doorto-door to our residents. Come to think of it, there has only been one issued in recent years! If you are a resident that wishes to not have a solicitor knock on your door, you can be on the Do Not Knock Registry. This list will be issued to anyone that does go through the proper channels to obtain a solicitation permit. So you think this isn’t going to stop the people that solicit without a permit? The Borough is now issuing “Do Not Knock” stickers that you can display on your premises. In order to obtain a sticker, just email the Borough Clerk at mmiller@somerdale-nj.com and one will be sent to you. You can also pick one up from Borough Hall. The stickers are currently on order and should be in by February 15th. Also remember, if someone comes to your door to solicit, the odds are that they did not get a permit. For your safety, and those of your neighbors, please feel free to dial the non-emergency number 856.783.4900 to notify the police. These people will be issued a summons, if in fact, they did not get a permit to go door-to-door.
