THE PRINCE AND THE POP STAR

Prince Harry has been getting up close and personal with Ellie Goulding after bumping into her at a polo event. Both Harry and Ellie were both guests at the Audi Cowarth Challenge in Berkshire last month and onlookers said the pair were “all over each other” with one claiming they appeared to share a kiss under a blanket. “They were part of a wider group including Tom Hardy but Harry and Ellie only had eyes for each other all night – they spent a lot of time sitting together under blankets. They were seen having a kiss before Harry had to go because he was playing polo the next day. Ellie left about five minutes later,” the source revealed to The Sun newspaper. Harry and Ellie have known each other for a few years now, having first met at the Royal wedding of William and Kate in 2011 then a year later at the Invictus Polo games in 2012. She was also asked to sing at Harry´s 30th birthday in September, at the Prince´s request. We hope the 29-year-old Anything Can Happen singer gets the Royal seal of approval – these two look lovely together and would inject some much needed fun into the Royal Family. Watch this space.

JOHNNY DEPP ABUSE ACCUSATIONS

Amber Heard has been granted a temporary restraining order after the recent accusations that Depp hit his wife in the face with an iPhone. Depp’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, is now frustrated with the blonde who continues to push the trial back to be questioned on her allegations while she prepares herself for court. According to both the stars lawyers, the predicted outcome will be an arranged financial settlement. However the attorney believes Heard is lying about being unavailable for court and therefore should not be allowed to testify in the trial due to unfair cooperation. Depp’s lawyer has since further expressed her concern as she reveals the longer the case drags on, the harder impact it will have on Depp’s career. Let’s hope this sticky case results in a positive outcome so both stars can move onwards and upwards.

TAYLOR SWIFT & CALVIN HARRIS SPLIT

After over a year of dating the pair are no more after Calvin’s recent car crash. Harris addressed the break up soon after on Twitter to clear things up by saying “the only truth here is that a relationship came to an end and what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,” which Swift retweeted. This may be all civil and sweet but a source claims Swift was talking of marrying Harris only a couple of weeks before the split. It has also been reported that the pair called things off due to their different visions of the future as Swift imagined “Forever and Always” and Harris clearly just wanted to “Relax!”

LONDON’S GURNING

Just a few days after Millie Mackintosh (26) and Professor Green’s (32) official divorce she was pictured on a romantic getaway with her new boyfriend Made in Chelsea´s Hugo Taylor whom she used to date back in 2011. The pair now seem very loved up back together again, however Pro Green seemed highly unimpressed with Mackintosh’s behaviour. After seeing pictures of his ex wife pulling silly faces on holiday the singer took to Twitter to express his thoughts on Mackintosh’s new romance. The first of the social media blast began with “dodging bullets since 1983” followed by “Money really can’t buy you class can it” and “London’s gurning.” The tweets caused a night of comedy entertainment for all of his fans that tweeted support and funny comebacks in his favour.

DICAPRIO’S BREAK FROM ACTING

After Leo finally won his well-deserved Oscar for Best Actor earlier this year since being nominated six times since 1993, the star announced he is taking a break from acting and taking it easy for a little while. The Hollywood star now spends a lot of time with British model Roxy Horner, even flying across the world to visit her. A source claims that they are “seriously dating” as they have been spotted side-byside in a club and cosy on evenings out as another source claims “they’re smitten and enjoy spending time together.” We would certainly agree that Dicaprio deserves his well-earned break and possibly new relationship too, you go Leo!

A LITTLE MC’LOVIN

Perrie Edwards, Little Mix pop star opens up about her romance with Dougie Poynter, McFly musician after being captured getting cosy at the Glamour Awards. A source claims that ‘they were inseparable at the after show. Dougie was with Perrie for ages looking cosy. He didn’t leave her side towards the end of the night.’ However it gets a little more complicated as Dougie was left heartbroken from his split with Ellie Goulding whilst Perrie has remained single since her split from former fiancé Zayn Malik. Although, this little romance could be the one to change that as Edwards previously had a crush on Poynter as she claimed ‘when Dougie started seeing Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays and I was gutted.’ Let’s hope this romance continues to blossom.

SHEERAN SUED FOR £20 MILLION

Pop star Ed Sheeran is being sued 20 million for his song ‘Photograph’ which sounds suspiciously similar to forgotten X-Factor winner of 2010 Matt Cardle. The alleged copied song is called ‘Amazing’ from 2009, which was recorded and released by Cardle at the end of the television show. Sheeran revealed in an interview that his song ‘Photograph,’ was going to be the one to change his career path as it reached no.1 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart in 2015. It now seems that Sheeran was right, but not for the reasons he expected… The case states that Sheeran and Cardle’s songs share 39 identical notes, around 70% the same in pitch, rhythm and placement. It has been said that the similarities go beyond substantial similarities and is sufficient enough to claim copyright against. The matter is now being taken to a California federal court for the final decision to be made on the case.

The short shorts craze works best in bold bright colours to contrast a tan with a simple plain top or buttoned shirts. LETTUCE SALSA WRAPS Summer is upon us, which can only mean one thing, salads galore! When the sun is out everybody seems that little bit happier and motivated to kick start their summer healthy eating regime. Summer is all about the light and easy meals that leaves your stomach flat and keeps you refreshed throughout the day. These salsa wraps are an excellent light spin on carb heavy foods by Ella Woodward (author of Deliciously Ella.) By replacing the wraps with lettuce leaves that add crunch and juiciness to the day. This dish is so simply satisfying and has an excellent blend of flavours made from a mixture of raw ingredients.

INGREDIENTS • •

8 big leaves of butter lettuce (the softest type of lettuce) 2 big tomatoes

• • • • • • • •

1 red pepper 1 avocado 1/2 a cup of sweetcorn 1/2 a cup of mixed bean sprouts (if you don’t have these use chickpeas) a handful of fresh basil leaves 1 lemon extra virgin olive oil salt

METHOD

Chop the avocado, tomatoes and red pepper (making sure to remove the seeds) into quarters. Chop the basil leaves into fine pieces and mix the chopped ingredients into a bowl with the sweetcorn and bean sprouts. Squeeze the lemon over the mixed ingredients and stir in with olive oil and salt to preference. Wash the leaves and fill them with the salsa and relax in the sun!

WINE MATCH Asking which wine to pair with salad is a bit like asking which wine to pair with meat or fish, there´s no single answer. It totally depends on the type of leaves, vegetables and dressings you use. The main standout ingredients for Ella´s Lettuce Salsa Wraps are red peppers, avocado and lemon. Great all-rounders for these light ingredients are fruity whites such as Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc as well as fruity rosés. A Pinot Noir, with accents of crabapple, watermelon, raspberries, and strawberries, is a cool, crisp and perfectly suited accompaniment. Tracing the recipe back to its Mexican roots, if you are planning on having a party and serving these wraps Margarita cocktails with either salt or sugar rimmed glasses would go down very nicely.

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR

BLINK 182 CALIFORNIA

This is not a test. This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the annual Purge… Finally! Film fanatics across the globe have no fear. After the significant void in 2015 where The Purge took a break, it’s making an excellent comeback to our screens on July 1st. Directed by James DeMonaco, the first in The Purge series was released in 2013 and The Purge Anarchy following in 2014. To much disappointment the annual purge did not commence in 2015, leaving everyone in anticipation for its return in 2016. With a budget of $10 million and the success of the series growing by each film we have high expectations for the Election Year! The purge has grabbed our attention as one to watch as DeMonaco perfectly captures a thriller, sci-fi and action film that has our palms sweating and gripping to the edge of our seats throughout. This year we witness a senator (Elizabeth Mitchell) and her head of security (Frank Grillo) attempting to survive an annual night of terror where all crime is legal for 12 hours. This year DeMonaco ups his game yet again and the trailer does not disappoint! Former police sergeant Barnes is shown two years on after choosing not to kill the man who killed his son, as the new head of security for Senator Charlene Roan, the frontrunner in the next Presidential election due to her vow to eliminate the Purge. But surely this can’t be the end to the gripping series that has our hearts racing?!

Blink 182 are back to smash the summer with their new album California on the 182nd day of the year, 1st July, how convenient! The band paid a visit to KROQ to announce the album’s tracklist and a North American tour alongside All Time Low, A Day to Remember and the All-American Rejects. It is the first album for the pop-punk trio since Neighbourhoods in 2011 and noticeably the first album without founding guitarist Tom DeLonge. New member Matt Skiba, who joined from band Alkaline Trio last year, seems to be a great new addition to Blink´s like up having penned track Born to Death which has been received well by fans. The rich new album includes big anthems, sing-along melodies and fun rock tunes. It will also have an element of classic Blink 182 style but will be upgraded for pop culture fans too, catering for a variety of tastes. Powerhouse producer, John Feldmann, who fronted Goldfinger and has been working alongside Blink on the new album, explains, “It needed to be something in the new zone, a new band, but keeping the legacy going because I love Blink. I want that fun.” His wife Amy also adds, “When I think of Blink, I think of going to have a good time and partying and having a great, fun show.” The band will be introducing an element of dubstep with their punk rock style to really crank up the summer vibes. So expect big things from them this season to meet all of our partying needs.

JK ROWLING HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD 19 years after the start of one of the most phenomenal novel/film series in history, JK Rowling is back and publishing Harry Potter and The Cursed Child this summer. Rowling wrote The Cursed Child as a script, which is now due to be published as a book for all of us Potterheads shortly after midnight on July 31st. As well as being published the day of Harry’s birthday, it is also the day after the play opens in London… what a day for now multi-millionaire Rowling. The Cursed Child is the official sequel to the previous seven books. Set 19 years after the previous novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows from 2007, Harry is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and a father of three school-age children. The story is heavily focused on Harry’s youngest child Albus Severus, as quoted in the synopsis published on Pottermore in 2015. Luckily for us Rowling decided to publish the script as a play due to huge public demand for the story to continue. Keep an eye out this summer for a blast from the past for Harry and Albus’s struggle with the weight of the family legacy. The story unfolds as the family learn the troublesome truth that sometimes darkness creeps up on you from unforeseen places. Sure to be another JK Rowling classic.

LA CATARINA CRAFT BRINGING BEER, MUSIC & CULTURE TO THE PEOPLE La Catarina is fast becoming the hottest live music venue in Marbella. Playing host to live music acts from all over Europe and even as far as the US the top names to grace La Catarina include the Brooklyn Gypsies, Nine D and Julian Maeso. Not only can you appreciate the best live entertainment but you can also enjoy a great meal and a really warm, friendly, laid back experience at La Catarina. Owned and run by the hospitable Skander Allani, Ignacio Garvayo and their team you are instantly greeted with a smile and both Marbella residents and holidaymakers have warmed to this place. The venue located in La Campana at the back of Nueva Andalucia is set in a brewery that produces some of the most popular beers here on the coast – all with Marbella themed names. Sip on the Golden Mile or wash down a Sierra Blanca at your favourite Marbella venues including the Puente Romano, Finca Cortesin and Michelin starred Messina. WHAT WAS THE IDEA BEHIND LA CATARINA? Skander: We felt that there was a real lack of “Made in Marbella” so we wanted to create a mecca for craft beer where people could go to just hang out and drink good beer. I used to be in a band and already had a lot of connections so the live music element was a must.

32 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 22

WHAT´S LA CATARINA´S USP? Ignacio: Music, beer and culture. As well as live acts every night we have regular art exhibitions and sponsor events like the San Pedro Jazz Festival. SO YOU¨VE TAKEN ON A RESTAURANT, BAR, BREWERY AND LIVE MUSIC VENUE. HOW DO YOU FIT IT ALL IN? Ignacio: We work days, nights and weekends. All I can say is we have very hospitable wives and girlfriends. Skander: Or sometimes very angry wives and girlfriends! WHAT WAS YOUR BACKGROUND – HOW DID YOU COME TO BUY LA CATARINA? Skander: We both grew up in Marbella and I used to live in London. When I came back in 2013 it seemed like the perfect time and opportunity to do something new. We opened La Catarina on October 31st with an amazing Halloween party and in 2014 we opened the Craft brewery and distributing arm – delivering beer for the people! WHERE DO YOU FIND THE TALENT TO SHOWCASE AT LA CATARINA? Ignacio: They find us!

news We´ve developed great relationships with the bands we work with and word has got round. We also had Spanish scratch champion MC Nine D in the other night, we try to create the live music venue atmosphere you´d only find in cities like Malaga and Barcelona for Marbella. WHAT¨S YOUR FAVOURITE NIGHT? Skander: It always used to be Friday and Saturday night´s live music nights which are amazing but now we´re totally in love with Wednesday´s Jam Sessions. WHAT MUSICAL GENRES DO YOU CATER FOR? Skander: It would be easier to say what music genres we don´t cater for! At the moment rock, pop, house, soul, funk, RnB, rap. Basically anything easy listening we don´t do thrash metal or anything too heavy. BIGGEST CELEB SINGER/BAND PERFORMED? Ignacio: Julian Maeso, Brooklyn Gypsies, Terry Shaughnessy and The Renegades are all amazing international artists. WHAT FOOD DO YOU SERVE? Skander: We´re more along the lines of pub food such as burgers, chilli con carne and sharing platters. Ignacio: All homemade and nothing frozen. Made with love! We don´t do industrial beer and we don´t do industrial food! WHAT DRINKS OFFERS DO YOU DO? Skander: We do happy hour between 6pm and 10pm where we offer 50% off all beers. WHAT´S YOUR MOST POPULAR BEER? Ignacio: Golden Mile and Tarifa are our biggest sellers. We have 6 beers in total and rotate 4 beers on tap so people can try something new. We feel like we´re helping to educate people. YOUR BEERS ARE AWARD-WINNING TOO – TELL US MORE? Skander: We came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Fleur Awards for beer quality beating 60 other beers! Amazing really! FUTURE PLANS? We have a new amber beer coming soon plus we are planning to double our beer production in 6 weeks. Our beer master Alessio Allegretti is the best in the business – we will soon be producing 9 litres! When we first started it was only 2.

La Catarina showcases live music every night of the week and is open 7 days a week from 6pm to 2am weekdays and from 6pm to 4am on weekends. For their full monthly calendar of events see Marbella Rocks calendar or visit La Catarina´s Facebook page.

Frontline V Backline Puerto Banus and its front line has held the party scene crown in the Costa del Sol for over 40 years but in recent times the rise of the ‘second line’ or ‘back line’ party bar strip has seen a rival emerge.

Always regarded as the place to people spot and marvel at the mass of super cars and even more so at the immense mega-yachts, the front line marina has no equal. But where the better night out is to be had – front line or back line - opinions vary. Along the front line, The Sinatra Bar, News Café, Babilonia and Pangea Club now must vie with fast becoming the go to places on the second line; Bijoux, Linekers Bar, O’Grady’s and Seven Bar. Once looked upon as their lowly neighbours, these venues are now the secret (maybe dirty secret) places for what is considered the best night out in Puerto Banus, even for the glamorous rich and famous. Established in the 1960s, Puerto Banus quickly rose to become the hotspot for the world’s glitterati and hit its zenith in the 1980s – certainly rivalling, if not beating its French counterparts - Cannes, St. Tropez and Monte Carlo - as the place to see and be seen. With the consistently fabulous weather, wondrous sea views,

alluring Andalucía charm and effortless appeal of the laid-back lifestyle, it is not hard to see why Puerto Banus maintained this position for the following decades. But all good things must come to an end, and as the global markets struggled in the late 2000s so did Puerto Banus and every other tourist location in Europe. Forced to reinvent itself, it did so with the surge in popularity for a cheaper but nonetheless great night

out in a once super exclusive resort – and as such the second line emerged. With the influx of new people and partygoers to Puerto Banus there is always bound to be some naysayers who don’t look on this new image favourably and hanker for the return to the exclusivity the front line afforded; but the second line is here to stay. With more bars and now high-end restaurants opening there year on year and with several front line closures or reopenings as boutique shops, the transition seems to reinforce the idea that the second line has its place in Puerto Banus. Many front line bars have entrances on both the front and second line now and cater to both crowds easily, and as such the presumed gap between the two ‘lines’ is lessening or is lesser than previously thought. One such bar is Portside, part of the rapidly increasing portfolio of the Linekers Group, managed by the workaholic and effortlessly glamorous, Lina Hodgkins; often referred

to in the close knit Banus community as ‘Mummy Marbella’. Lina moved to Marbella in 2004 and a few months later found herself working with Linekers Group. After several years running the PR teams for just Linekers Bar and Portside, she is now, eight years later the Marketing Director for all of the Group’s venues which still include, Linekers and Portside but now comprise Bijoux, The Lounge, Babilonia, Premier Lounge, CAFE Rotana, Tibu Rooftop restaurant and nightclub Tibu. Lina says she has certainly noticed the changes over the last few years, as the bars on the front line started to close and become shops, more bars opened on the back line.

“It has changed so much over the last 10 years. As the front line became shops, the back line was the place to go.” And what she says is very apparent as many of the venues which make up the marina are now very high-end boutique shops catering to the super rich. “There is a misconception with the front line and back line. Drink prices are much the same and both have the big spenders. There is no age or money barrier in the back line.” Much of the newer and very cool bars which have sprung up are indeed focused on the back line. Emulating the front tier in glitz and glamour, just more accessible to the ordinary people visiting Puerto Banus every day. “For €50 you can have a great time on the back line but near enough next door it can cost you a lot more,” Lina says. And this is where the presumed differences don’t apply. The cost of an evening can be as varied in both

parades. And as varied equally in style of venue and clientele to music and dress code. The marina, with its sea views, is predominantly busy all day but as day turns to evening entertainment the marina fills up with pleasure seekers, but past midnight things begin to change. ‘”You are limited on the marina in terms of space. From 1am onwards the people in the bars along the front begin to migrate towards the back. It’s more stylish at the front and more of a mix up in the

ISSUE 22 | MARBELLAROCKS

features back,” Lina adds. “Babilonia is a very chic, cool place. Portside is more chilled, plays great music and is more accessible. It’s all about the second line!” Lina concludes with a smile. And she is right. The main attraction in Puerto Banus might have been the marina and the super cars and yachts and designer boutiques which only the front line can boast - and long may it continue - but the back line certainly has its attractions in a heady mix of bars and clubs – which in many terms is more suited to a new generation of revellers. The second line is tapping into a bracket of younger groups of people – some with the power to spend similar amounts of money as the folks on the front line. With the rise of popular reality television stars – of which Lina is one and also helps to encourage – visiting Puerto Banus and partying freely with ‘everyone’ helps inspire the notion that ‘everyone’ is a VIP. Which isn’t a bad thing. There are still very much VIP sections in many of the bars and clubs but no ‘Velvet Rope’. Although Puerto Banus may not be the totally exclusive place it used to be, it has certainly evolved. There are still the same (if not more) super cars and (even bigger) mega yachts moored in the expanding marina and more of the financial crisis immune inhabitants but there is also a larger portion of younger, livelier partygoers eager to experience a taste of this high-life without the sometimes immense expense. The second line affords them this and who can begrudge that? Puerto Banus will always have its superb location and climate but now has an accessibility to the non-super rich socialites which it may not have had in the past and in order for the place to not become an off-season ‘ghost town’ it has to stop bemoaning this influx, rather embrace it.

LOOK LIKE A COVER STAR

M

y brief was to give Evangelina a natural look to bring out her features for the cover star photoshoot. To create this look I mainly used Mac products as I find the quality and finish works well on most skin types. The overall look took 30 minutes to achieve and can easily be recreated at home for a day or night out.

Step 1 - Foundation

From a young age I have always been interested in art, having a paintbrush in my hand is one of my earliest memories. This led me to do an art degree where I achieved my first mosaic commission for Hammersmith Hospital and then moved forward to begin a profession in teaching. With a love for fashion and beauty I realised that art and make-up are closely linked. At this point I joined Marbella Beauty Academy to begin a course in Fashion and Photography Make-up. I have loved every minute of it and have learnt so much from the fantastic and supportive team that work there. It was there that I entered a make-up competition to work with international model Evangelina Anderson on Marbella Rocks July cover. As the winner I had the unique opportunity to work on a photoshoot for Evangelina and fashion brand Queen of Queens. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this fantastic opportunity for me.

78 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 22

Studio Fix Fluid NW25 has amazing staying power so I used to give longevity while shooting. Some shoots can last up to 3 hours so this limits the need to do regular touch-ups.

Step 2 - Eye base Preparing the base of the eyes for the shadow to avoid creasing and clogups I used Mac Paint Pot Painterly.

Step 3 - Eyebrows I love the Brow Shaping Kit by Benefit. The medium colour kit worked perfectly with Evangelina´s colouring and brows.

Step 4 - Eyes For a natural yet striking look I used Transition 2 & 3 Dusty Road by Bare Minerals, Transition 1 and under the eyes Cinderfella, below the brows Liberatus by Kat Von D.

Step 5 - Countouring I used a combination of two contouring shades to accentuate Evangelina´s features. The darker shade – Mac Studio Finish Concealer NW35 was used on the cheekbones, either side of the nose and the lower chin.

HAIR & BEAUTY

Step 6 - The Highlighter

Step 8

Mac Studio Finish Concealer NC15 I placed above the cheekbones going up towards the temples and over the top of the eyebrow in a curved shape, down the middle of the nose as well us under the nose and under the center of the lower lip.

A dusting of Dessert Dunes Baked Bronzer 200 Warm Melange on cheekbones by Kiko was used to give more definition to cheeks.

Step 7 To keep the look in place I used Mac Studio Fix Powder NW30.

Step 9 Mac Zoom Lash Mascara and Mac false eyelashes were used to really bring out her eyes.

Step 10 For the lips I went for a natural nude look consisting of Canela 04 Lipliner by Nice and Chic and Fleshpot Lipstick, also by Canela.

BARDOU

AT SISU

A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

Celebrity hairdresser and TV star Adee trained with Lee Stafford before going on to star in Channel 4´s The Salon, The Secret Millionaire and Shear Genius in LA. He has styled some of the world´s top celebrities including David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio and Liza Minelli. He was even the brains behind Beckham´s infamous Mohawk haircut which spawned millions of copycat looks. After living in LA for 6 years, Adee came back to London to set up Bardou. The Covent Garden salon is now the top destination for stars and stylish Londoners. Due to his 17-year-long friendship with Marbella TV star Natalie Richardson and seeing a huge gap in the market here for a seriously sexy and chic salon, Adee and Natalie decided to launch Bardou Marbella. The stylish salon opens its doors for business this month. 80 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 22

I´m excited to announce that Bardou now has a fully functional express salon inside the luxurious Sisu Boutique Hotel in Marbella. Guests and visitors to the hotel can now get their hair done immaculately for any event or party by leading Bardou stylists and technicians. Specialising in blow dries and professional make-up, with cuts provided by my good self five days a month, ladies can look show stopping even after one of Sisu´s famous pool parties. I really feel this is a match made in heaven, both Sisu and its sister nightclub Cavalli are a perfect fit for Bardou. We excel at being at the forefront of trends in our field of hair and beauty. Likewise, Sisu bucks the trend for being one of the most sought after hotels on the Costa del Sol and Cavalli – well needless to say is one of the world´s top nightclubs. The joy of Bardou at Sisu is the express style it offers. Ladies can literally ring up and undergo a complete makeover in under an hour. With 9 chic blow dries to choose from Bardou´s cocktail-inspired blow dry menu, there really is something for everyone. Plus, as I´ll be overseeing Bardou Sisu, expect to see a bit of LA and London glamour being brought to Spanish shores! Having worked as a celebrity hairdresser to some of the biggest names in the business including David Beckham for his GQ cover, Liza Minelli, Girls Aloud, All Saints, Marco Pierre White, Piers Morgan and even members of the Royal Family (who have asked to remain nameless). For the full colour, cutting, beauty treatments and more see our flagship Puerto Banus store, located in Playas Del Duque. The salon, run by my beautiful partner Natalie Richardson has been going from strength to strength since its March launch, with a whole host of new services such as Comcit Facials, Russian Mink Eyelash Extensions and HD Brows.

WOOD HAIRDRESSING A CUT ABOVE THE REST

Wood Hairdressing, one of the most distinctive, unique and friendliest hair salons on the Costa del Sol, is celebrating their 7th anniversary this month. We caught up with salon owner Zoe to hear all about Wood´s winning formula and plans for the future.

“We can´t believe its been 7 years already,” Zoe said. “We really have built up a reputation as one of the best salons in Marbella and as well as our already established clientele any new clients feel totally relaxed and at home in our luxurious atmosphere.” The distinctive interior of Wood, with its multitude of hanging coloured lampshades, is modern yet classical with its very own 'Loose Women' style reception bar. Refreshments including snacks, sandwiches, champagne, wine, coffee and a selection of teas are also available. Wood prides itself on staying well ahead of the game. For healthy, strong hair the group have introduced cutting edge hair strengthener, Olaplex. “This is the most revolutionary product we've seen in a long time. It repairs even the most bleached and frazzled locks and restores them to their former glory,” Zoe enthuses.

“At Wood hairdressing, client care is our primary concern, ensuring that every client

enjoys a friendly intimate experience that is fun and enjoyable and delivers the very best service and results.” - Zoe Wood. Plus, Wood is known for having the best hair extensions on the coast and clients fly in from as far afield as Dubai, London and even South Africa to get their hair made over by Zoe. They use number one hair extension brand Great Lengths and Zoe says that not one of her clients have been told they don’t have naturally long locks. “We can extend short hair to long, add volume to fine hair and introduce subtle and dramatic high and lowlights to create stunning fashion effects. Hair can be styled by using heat applications and straightened to suit every lifestyle activity. There are really no limits to what can be achieved,” Zoe adds. Wood also offers the Brazilian permanent blow dry keratin treatment. Clients are able to eliminate frizz, give instant manageability and giving

fantastic condition to dry, frizzy or curly hair. Not content with just colouring and cutting, Woods also do wedding hair, up dos and nails. “We have trained in everything. It keeps us on our toes and then clients don´t need to go elsewhere. Colour, cuts extensions, nails. Plus, if you´re a fan of GHD we offer professional stylers and we also do RELiAN, a mascara that enhances, thickens and lengthens eyelashes up to 300%.” With over 15 years industry experience Zoe sums up the ethos of Wood Hairdressing and explains why they have managed to build such a loyal customer base. “Hairdressing has to be fun, you need to love what you do and provide clients with the ultimate feel-good factor – looking good as well as feeling good, so they leave with a bounce in their step, as well as their hair,” she said.

TO FAIL W

ith fitness in social media at an all time high, lots and lots of people are seeing and asking about meal prep. Meal prep is to pre prepare your meals based on your daily calorie target spanned out over let's say 5/6 meals depending on your preferred meal frequency (eg. small but often or three meals per day). Sounds simple right? Well no it doesn't and I can understand why. Lets simplify it. So let's pretend you already know your calorie intake for the day. Knowing this couldn't be easier with the emergence of meal tracking mobile apps such as Myfitnesspal. If you don't know it check it out.

PEET'S TIP

As mentioned above there are some fantastic apps available to calculate and help track your nutrition and progress but let me throw some math your way if you're like me and like to get stuck in with the numbers. First we need to find out your "BMR". BMR (basal metabolic rate) is the amount of energy your body expends while at rest (ie. the minimum amount of calories you must consume for your body to perform basic metabolic functions).

Calculate your BMR using this formula: For Men: [10 x Body Weight (kg) ] + [6.25 x height (cm)] – [5 x age (y)] +5 For Women: [10 x Body Weight (kg) ] + [6.25 x height (cm)] – [5 x age (y)] – 161 Now back to assuming you're in touch with the relevant info regarding your consumption, let's example a common example of a meal prep. Mary knows she has to eat a daily calorie target of 1400kcal for daily BMI (minimum bodily requirement at rest). She also believes in and practices the "small but often" notion so spreads these calories throughout the day over 6 meals including a post workout shake. That's 5 meals of 280 calories or there about.

HEALTH & FITNESS

AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT HER DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE: meal 1 (Breakfast) 1 Medium Egg 50g Oats 314.9 Kcal Meal 2 100g Salmon Fillet 100g Broccoli 239.8kcal Meal 3 50g Protein Shake 168kcal Meal 4 (Post Workout Meal) 80g Chicken 200g Sweet Potato 276.4Kcal Meal 5 80g Beef 60g Brown Rice 50g Broccoli 316.4kcal 5 Meals with a calorie total of just over 1400. Now Mary might cook breakfast and have meals 2,4 and 5 pre-prepared in tuppawear to grab and head out to the office or wherever her day might take her. Usually prep would be made for 3 days as any longer and certain ingredients, especially veg tend to lose freshness. No one needs the reaction to opening 4 day old broccoli in public haha.

example not having to stick to the same meals every day but if abused can be detrimental to your fat loss goals. Keeping your diet nutritional is absolute paramount as there are other factors including vitamins and minerals that are key to what we want to achieve. Fitting pizza and ice cream into your Flexible Diet isn't going to cut it.

PEET'S TIP

Grab yourself a decent set of food scales as they are going to be your best friend. I find one with a bowl to be the most convenient. I know it feels like a lot of work to imagine weighing out your food but you will become so fast and efficient once you get the hang of this that it becomes second nature, and your results will be staggering. This is a great tried and tested method of preparation but may be a little awkward for the newcomer to the fitness lifestyle. If so just start off with preparing a big load of say Chicken, Salmon Fillets and Veg then store in a tupperware each. Then when it's time to head out (or the night before) just prepare the individual boxes for the day ahead. Now a method I have written about in earlier issues of Marbella Rocks Magazine is Flexible Dieting. This is the approach that I take and find it serves me well. Now using a mobile app or your notes (if you understand the maths) is essential and also the scales are going to be a very close buddy with this method. IT'S A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR ABS PEOPLE! Flexible dieting or counting "Macros" has its benefits. For

BOTTOM LINE

Regardless of your meal frequency beliefs or practices, not being prepared is ultimately going to hinder your progress. Not having the right foods to hand in modern day hectic lifestyle is going to make us have to turn to off the shelf products to fill our hunger and cravings. You may be training hard as hell and gaining results and confidence but believe me now, to apply a decent prepared approach will catapult you to a level you never imagined. And that's speaking from experience. Give it a good shot, let me know how you get on and if you need any help or tips find me through my social media. Also let me know if there are any topics you would like me to cover in future issues. Happy prepping peeps.

BMR calculation example Sex: Male / Height: 177.8cm Weight: 91kg / Age: 24 ( 10 x 91 ) + ( 6.25 x 177.8 ) – ( 5 x 24 ) + 5 = ( 910 ) + ( 1111 ) – ( 120 ) + 5

RESTAURANT REVIEW

EL BANCO S

et in the picturesque Aloha Pueblo with panoramic views of Marbella, El Banco serves some of the finest, freshly prepared dishes with international influences and a fusion style. El Banco´s head chef Sergio is inspired by his Argentinian roots and is passionate about great quality produce which ensures every dish at El Banco is packed full of flavour. As well as all the usual international dishes you would expect to see on the menu, El Banco serves Ceviche and various Peruvian delicacies, fresh local fish and meat dishes cooked to perfection and homemade puddings and cakes. On sampling the menu, we were inundated by choice, deciding on just a handful of dishes was a tough order as everything sounded so appetising. On recommendation of the waiter we went for the traditional Ceviche dish which contained white fish, prawns, octopus, red onion, corn, sweet potato and fried banana. The flavour of the seafood was enhanced by the tanginess of the lime and a little kick from the chillies made it extra special. Next up was a bright, colourful and intense Asian inspired starter dish of Tuna Tartare with soy sauce and wasabi.

94 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 22

The dish was deliciously offset with an avocado base served with wheat bread and a sprinkling of black sesame seeds. Also on offer for starters are more traditional Spanish options of Prawns Pil-Pil, Iberian ham with toast and grated tomato and Gazpacho soup. There is also a great selection of salads and homemade pastas for those feeling less adventurous on the spice and seafood side. Moving onto the mains, we opted for the Rossini Beef Fillet with mushrooms, potato gratin and Pedro Ximenez Sauce. The beef was cooked medium rare as requested to perfection and was succulent and melt in the mouth. The sauce too was delicious. Pedro Ximenez Sauce is made from a local Andalucian grape, it is a sweet wine or sherry that goes fantastically well with beef or pork meat dishes. The Grilled Seabass served with sautĂŠed vegetables, garlic oil and chillis was totally on point. Pan-fried lightly and slowly you could taste the spice and garlic perfectly throughout the well-sized fillet. The wine is also fantastic and not overpriced at El Banco. As the majority of our dishes were on the seafood, lighter scale a dry crisp Sauvignon was recommended. Served ice-cold

gastronomy

(please other restaurants in Spain – do this – there´s nothing worse than room temperature or worse still warm wine!) it perfectly suited our meal choices and wallets. When the dessert menu came we had to opt for a Lemon Pie to share after filling up too much on the first two courses! It was light, zingy and actually not too filling. All the desserts, including the Brownie, Crème Brulee and Tiramisu, are homemade which is a great testament to the chef. After dessert we were lucky enough to catch up with Laura De Luca the charismatic owner of El Banco. Having known her for a few years now I can honestly say she is one of the nicest people I´ve met here in Spain. She is always smiling and talking to the guests and makes them feel completely at ease. Her husband Gustavo also happens to own the famous La Red on the Paseo Maritimo in Central Marbella and is also a true gent! You can tell the couple, who have two children together, relish the restaurant businesses they have built up and run and that´s another reason why you have to go….as well as phenomenal food, atmosphere and scenery you know you will be relaxed and totally enjoy your evening surrounded by the friendly locals and ever-attentive staff. El Banco are also known for themed nights such as Thursday´s Tango Classes and regular guest singers and DJ´s – check Marbella Rocks monthly calendars for full details. Urb. Aloha Pueblo, Local 35, 29660, Nueva Andalucia El Banco is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to midnight. For reservations call: +34 952 907 570 or email: info@restauranteelbanco.com

home & interiors of a woman sucking a lollipop. “The colours are incredibly eye catching and it literally sparkles like crazy. I´m definitely addicted to the shine of the sparkles.” Lala uses a combination of drawings and digital (mixed media) to create an image which she then places on a canvas, after she will paint the canvas to create a more three dimensional effect before literally applying thousands of Swarovski crystals onto it. She can create bespoke pieces of art too, literally any image or item can be blinged. She can even customise your favourite movie star on canvas or acrylic plate or even your family pictures with Swarovski crystals. “I´ve blinged diverse pieces of furniture but the most unusual thing I have ever blinged was the inside of a Maserati!” Lala reveals.

LALA VAN DER VEKEN Talented artist Lala Van Der Veken was born in Belgium but moved to Marbella 15 years ago where her love for all things bling prompted her to start her own successful, award winning fashion and accessories boutique. Lala also has fascinating art heritage. Her grandmother was the great, great granddaughter of Isabella Brant, the love and model of famous Belgian artist Rubens and her godmother is Annie Bulckens, a hugely successful artist in South Africa. Lala has always admired the art world and is going through a transitional period working solely on art and sculptures decorated with thousands of Swarovski crystal elements. “I love expressing myself through my art,” Lala reveals, “I want to bring emotion to my work which is why I chose to create the skull piece (pictured here). Skulls generally have negative connotations but I wanted to introduce the peace symbol on the nose to make it more positive. Skulls have no race or colour so that ties in with my beliefs of peace to all mankind.” Lala´s pieces generally use between 30,000 and 50,000 Swarovski crystals and take over a month to create. She is currently working on a chic, pop-art piece

Ana Trujillo was born in Malaga and grew up surrounded by the passion of art. She discovered photography when she was 15 years old through the influence of her family. As the years passed, that interest became such a big passion that she decided to make it her profession and moved to Milan to improve her career. Once in Italy, she discovered the fashion world by working as a paparazzi, reporter and fashion photographer.

In 2015, after many years working in the fashion industry, she returned to her roots, Málaga, and decided to focus on her own projects, making her ideas and creations come true. Ana currently has 7 pieces showcased in Atrium but is open-minded to creating individual works of art for clients. Ana´s favourite piece is entitled “Alter Ego” which is actually a picture of her with short hair looking like a man holding two puppets of herself looking completely different. Ana explains, “People are complicated creatures with many sides to them. The Alter Ego represents pieces of you that you show to the world and how you control how you come across.”

100 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 22

The large majority of Ana´s work is about the female form. “I find women so beautiful, their body, their makeup, everything about them,” she says. Some pieces are harder hitting too. Her tattoo rose photographs entitled “Fleur de Pearl” are of her best Italian friend Luca who unfortunately lost his battle with cancer last year. Ana is the only photographic artist to be displayed in Atrium. She is very proud and thankful that she has been given this huge opportunity. “I was lucky to be introduced to gallery owner Corinne Lewin through mutual friends and Corinne was keen to showcase different materials in the gallery. She signed me up after seeing only 3 of my pieces.”

home & interiors Malaga born Leyton Curro is most famous for his impressive murials. The largest of which stands in Estepona at 264 metres high and was commissioned by the Mayor of Estepona to commemorate the 400-year anniversary of Spanish author Miguel de Cevantes. It is in the Guinness Book of Records as being the tallest ever murial. Leyton is well known for his work on the Ingenious Gentleman Don Quijote of La Mancha. He has dedicated more than twenty oil paintings to the character famed by Miguel de Cervantes. Leyton likes to experiment with different types of paints, glazes and dyes on different surfaces. He has always been a self-educated creator and has recently found his path in abstract and figurative painting. “I love abstract, figurative and pop art. My style tends to lean towards these disciplines nowadays,” Leyton adds. Since 2007 he has displayed his work in Málaga, Morocco, Paris, Benahavis and Marbella, among others. Leyton has built up an impressive collection consisting of over 600 works of art. He cites Andy Warhol as his main art inspiration.

LE RIGOLEUR The artist Le Rigoleur also known as Ana Maria Slebi was born in Colombia before moving to the US, Paris and then Marbella. She is the youngest of four children and was 16 when she started taking courses of visual art at the Atelier Nora Avendaño and Marcel Lombana’s studio, in Barranquilla. Her passion has always been to draw and create beautiful visual pieces of art. A varied traveller, she lived in Detroit, USA, for a long time, to learn English and that’s where she began selling her first works for $25 to the students from the school she attended. Back in Colombia, in parallel to her business administration studies, she continued painting with her mother´s support. During several trips to Paris, she took courses of sculpture at the Atelier Tige with Clarisse Monnier. Her time in France, especially Paris, inspired a lot of her current works. Her style has changed over recent years and has gone from painting nature and fruit to her current symbolism in her chic pop art and sculptures. She has an atelier at home and loves nothing more to paint and sculpt, no matter what time of day of day or night. Le Rigoleur is currently showcasing 10 paintings and 4 sculptures at the Atrium Gallery. The piece she likes the most is her scroll which reads “Beauty until the end” upholding her belief that we are beautiful no matter what age. On this piece she also brings a personal touch. Ana always wears a necklace that her husband bought her with 5 diamonds representing each of her children. She has added this onto her pieces of art.

home & interiors Painter, sculptor, photographer and video artist, Karl Lagasse is one of the greatest multidisciplinary artists of our time. Born in Paris in 1981, Lagasse experienced a cultural childhood amongst his parents, both artists. His first piece was created at the age of 7 and his first work was sold when he was only 15. Self-taught Karl looks to other artists work to learn and be inspired. “The evolution of my work began when I started sculpting and I work and learn through a trial and error process,” he says. Karl is famed for creating urban inspired graffiti works of art, American themed pieces and without a doubt his most famous creation the “One Dollar Bill” which has taken the art world by storm. These grand sculptures come in different materials, sizes and colours with the most impressive standing at 2m high in bronze. The construction of these amazing pieces, which Karl started back in 2009, takes approximately 3 months from start to finish. Karl recently visited Marbella to inaugurate the brand new Atrium Gallery on the Golden Mile alongside the Mayor of Marbella - where his artwork and sculptures will be on display. Art lovers of the Costa del Sol will now have the unique opportunity to not only get to know Lagasse´s famous works in bronze, but also his paintings and video creations. His astounding work was recently presented at the Salon of Art Wynwood in Miami, and during an exibition in Paris where he received the French President Francois Hollande.

elf discovery happens for most people during their teenage years, when rebellion from parents to form individual identity, teamed with a need for peer acceptance, initiates a transformation in identity, appearance, beliefs and behaviour, so that in a sense, for a time, you loose yourself to find yourself. This is a perfectly natural part of the process of growing up. Who you are is shaped by the ever changing currents of life. You can adapt or resist, allow or try to control, flow or put up barriers and shields to people and life; you can choose to accept what is, who you are, and how you feel, or not. The choice is of your making. Feeling comfortable in your own skin begins with the choice, right now, to accept who you are and what is, and to accept your body as it is, because in reality not doing so is a futile way of being that only creates distress and suffering for you. Through acceptance, the battle with yourself and your body ends. And, through acceptance, the seeds of peace are sewn and from this foundation

psychology of inner peace, the changes you may choose to work towards will be fuelled by love and not war. Love brings comfort to body, mind and soul. The second step to feeling comfortable in your body is to always keep in mind that society constantly changes its mind about what is acceptable. This is most clearly displayed in the seasonal displays of fashion. Who, or what is this judgemental ‘Society’? You and I are; we make the choices that fuel the collective belief system by choosing to support or reject what is presented. If the current mode supports you, great, if it doesn’t; if what society says doesn’t support who you are, don’t reject yourself, reject the view of society. Vote from your heart; love yourself, this brings comfort to body, mind and soul. The third step to feeling comfortable in your body is to make a commitment to loving yourself. This means holding kind thoughts about yourself, accepting yourself, doing what makes you truly happy in your heart (a true heart will be a positive energy, so you cannot hurt others by doing what makes you happy, indeed, you may become a light in their lives), treating yourself in kind ways; looking after your health and happiness, living by your values, and pursuing a pathway that holds deep meaning and purpose to you. The fourth step to feeling comfortable in your own skin is to give yourself regular confidence boosters. Remind yourself what you are good at. Recall the things in your life you are proud of. List your best character traits. Remember

the big challenges you have already overcome. Look at what you have managed to accomplish in your personal growth and life’s journey so far. Give time to considering where you are succeeding in standing up for yourself and your values. Choosing to hold thoughts that make you feel good brings comfort to body, mind and soul. Finally, be mindful of your thoughts. How you feel is the result of what you tell yourself and where you place your focus. Typically, for many women, feeling bloated can create the automatic statement: ‘I feel fat!’ This is frequently followed by a meltdown when nothing in the wardrobe feels comfortable. These three little words hold such destructive power. Therefore, I invite you to delete them from your mind and replace them with a new response to noticing a bloated feeling: ‘I am okay’, because you are, just the way you are. When you are comfortable with ‘I am okay’ you can progress to: ‘I love being me!’, because why would you want to deny yourself this beautiful way of being. Being comfortable in your body is all about being aware of what you are telling yourself and choosing to speak to yourself from a kind and beautiful heart wherever you are, whatever is happening, and however you feel, as you flow through the currents, swirls and patterns of what happens and what you create; life. This brings comfort to mind, body and soul. You have a powerful heart and mind, learning how to master them to work harmony, is the greatest gift you can give to yourself, each other and the world.

Home matters and moving experiences could occupy you at the start of the month as living arrangements are subject to change or you just feel the desire to create that lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of. However, long term domesticity is not your scene and before you know it you’ll use this newly feathered nest as your base from which to launch yourself back into the party spirit. Somehow you just may be the recipient of either invitations to a few glittering events or else find yourself the centre of attention - either for what you do or what you have to offer on a personal level. Don’t stay home too long this July - get out and get your glam on!

You’re in no mood to suffer fools gladly and you’ll tell it like it is and damn the consequences now, Taurus. People will either love you for your candour or else think you have foot-in-mouth syndrome. Just remember that occasionally you have to let others know they have crossed a line or else become a doormat yourself. The past could come knocking with a surprise contact or encounter with someone you never thought to hear from or see again. That’s not to say you may not have a good reason to pick up the threads with them. If you are trying to keep something under wraps - don’t bother. No matter how you try to keep that secret it will have the nasty habit of tripping you up anyway. Just be an open book this July. It’s far simpler.

134 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 22

There’s a saying that if you can’t love yourself how are you going to love somebody else? Or allow them to love you for that matter? This July is all about the love and your ability to attract it. If it’s the real deal you’re after then this begins with loving yourself and as a result being unafraid to show the real you - warts and all (although I know you don’t actually have any!), Once you can do this, you attract that lover with whom you’re don’t have to pretend to be anything else but gorgeous you. And what’s more it flows in the opposite direction - what you see is what you get. No nasty surprises. Go for the real thing and that the real you first and foremost as love really is all around you this month.

It’s all about what direction you want to head in this July, Cancer. If you know what it is you want to achieve it’s time to take steps towards making that happen. The saying ‘Heaven helps those who help themselves’ applies to you now. You can’t afford to sit back and wait for opportunity to find you - you have to go out there and make it happen. New friends and connections can be made now and chances are these people may have a significant role to play in your future. Your money comes into focus in the second half of the month with more of the folding stuff to be made either via a better paying job or you starting something which provides you with an additional income stream. You may however be tempted to spend any extra cash now on those fabulous designer items. Easy come, easy go - but save some for that rainy day.

No need to apologise Leo, it is your destiny to be noticed. It has nothing to do with that golden glow your birthday season bestows on you, no matter what you are doing or where you are going, you are going to stand out. If you radiate you will attract. Golden Leos also know when to allow others to take their place in the spotlight as you are generous to a fault. You are about to enter a 12 month cycle filled with breakout opportunities and the chance to head down a new path in love, your career or both. It’s a time for new beginnings and to put the past behind you. Don’t be your old self and if this new self just happens to be an improved version - that’s your good fortune. Expect to attract whatever it is you are sending out back in kind so focus on all those glowing qualities and watch how the people and events that surround you are just a reflection of that. Love flows both ways for you now.

A new friendship could begin now which could turn out to be more than that in the future if you are open to it. Chances are you get on so wonderfully well that getting closer in a romantic sense just seems like the natural next step. However, it will be entirely up to you how this evolves. Your sense of adventure is awakened this month and you’re up for something different in terms of experiences and those you hang around with. You may ditch your usual crew in favour of those who are very different and offer you entrée into a new social circle. They may be from very different backgrounds, countries, cultures or professions than those you usually associate with. Mix and mingle now and make as many new and radically different connections as you can as chances are you’ll not only enjoy yourself in the process, but make one very special link for the future while you’re at it.

Ensure your image is all it should be this month as people in positions of influence or authority are taking note, Libra. You never get a second chance to make a first impression and seeing as who you are and what you offer professionally is under the spotlight, you’ll want to ensure you come across as someone to be taken seriously with those in a position to help you advance. Rewards and recognition could just follow and you could have something major to celebrate by the third week of this month. While you’re out doing that, don’t be surprised if you attract another kind of highly welcome attention in the form of someone who is very much their own person. You like that as the last thing you need is for anyone to stop you from being yourself now. Two individuals could just add up to one whole hearted experience this July.

You have the wow factor in spades this month but success depends on having the self-confidence to work it to your advantage, Scorpio. If you push forward and have a firm plan in place you may just turn those big dreams into reality now. Travel and benefits from dealing with people overseas or from far away will bring unforeseen benefits. But just bear in mind that when opportunity knocks and we open the door, very often what or who is standing there, doesn’t look quite how we expected it to. That is not to say that it’s not exactly what we need right now and the success hack for you this month is knowing the difference between want and what’s perfect for us. If you are offered an opportunity and it is better than your current situation or different to what has been offered to you in the past, then just say ‘yes’ to it. This could be the change for the better you have been waiting for.

So which is it to be this month Sag - hot sex or romance? You may even get to experience both or a heart racing combination of the two. Whether anything lasting is on offer is another matter however but that may not be your immediate concern as you plunge into the moment - but it will be a moment (or several) you’ll never forget. Situations may occur that are scarily similar to those you have encountered in the past and if so, tap into that inner strength and seek a new way of dealing with them - once and for all. If you feel the universe is testing you - you’re right. Pass the test successfully and not only will you never have to deal with this kind of thing again but you’re free to succeed without anything holding you back. Love or lust - it really doesn’t matter this July.

You may just be tempted to hit the cruise control and relax for a while, Capricorn but I advise against it. If you do you could just miss out on some wonderful opportunities not just around but also your personal life too. Yes, love requires the same amount of time and dedication as does your career path whether you are already in a relationship or seeking a new one. This month happens to be one of the best of the year to usher in a new level of relating for you as you become more aware of your needs and your partners if you have one inviting in a sense of oneness that restarts that romance vibe no matter how long you’ve been together. Singles should have a much better idea of the kind of person they need to get that fire started and as a result can screen out the no-gos much quicker. Go directly to love and do not pass ‘Go’ this month because you are already on your way.

How is your self-promotion, Aquarius? Very often we may appreciate the talents of others more than we do our own but the first half of July asks you to develop a new appreciation of all you have to offer professionally and to sell yourself in more effectively than you have done in the past. A situation may occur where you are being considered for a project, promotion or new position and whatever you do, don’t sell yourself short. You can also take these skills and apply them to what you have to offer someone on a personal level as the final two weeks of July see you in one of the best cycles for attracting someone serious in during 2016. This isn’t about self-aggrandisement or arrogance, but is about knowing just what you are worth. Stay connected to this and you could just be looking at success in more than one area of your life this month.

Expect the arrival of at least one heart-and-soul boosting situation this month - possibly more. Singles could find themselves pursued by someone determined to win them over - and you’ll want to be won. Others could be looking at a work or project breakthrough or a ‘lucky’ break in their career (it’s not really luck as you’ve worked for it!), but it may seem that way to others. Or you may just find yourself somewhere which brings you into contact with connections that will benefit you. Act and dress as if you are expecting to step on to the red carpet at any moment this month. You may feel something is about to happen but you’re not sure what. Go with that feeling and be prepared as in looking like someone just gave you the lead role in a movie about your life. There could be a dusting of stardom about you now so act like you are one and enjoy the spotlight.

He is also a personal trainer and he owns a Crossfit gym in the UK. Now onto Rocks VIP, can you tell our readers more about the cards? It has the potential to save you thousands of euros each year with up to 50% off over 50 of the best businesses across the coast.

How much can you expect to save? Per week approximately €50. Per year approximately €2,500. Where’s your favourite place to go using your Rocks VIP card? A Rocks VIP card, set of dumbbells and Marbella Rocks Magazine. If you could perpetuate a myth about yourself what would it be? I am the one who sculpted and made J Lo’s bum.

If you were an animal what would you be? According to scientists, pigs have orgasms 30 times a day… so probably a pig! What’s the most embarrassing item in your wardrobe? My really white hot pants!
