hey could cut a rug, they could jive and they were having the time of their lives with dinner and dancing at the Red Shoes Gala and Los Alegradores, Irish dancers at a humanitarian-awards dinner and a crazy combination of hula dancers and two-steppin’ at Will’s Quest for Hope.
member Edith McAllister, who laughingly thanked everyone for honoring her for “outliving everyone else.” This delightful, elegant evening featured a gourmet dinner followed by dancing until dawn to the sounds of the Rick Cavender Band. Irish dancers entertained the crowd at Pearl Stable on St. Patrick’s Day for the United Communities of San Antonio Brotherhood/Sisterhood Humanitarian Awards dinner, chaired by Jill Rosenthal. Award recipients Laura EhrenbergChesler, Ruth Z. Pina and Reggie Williams were recognized for their commitment to the ideals and practices of UCSA. Hula dancers, a drum group from Maui and Nashville, Tennessee, recording artist Bryan Lewis provided entertainment for “Will’s Quest for Hope: The Adventure Continues” hosted by U.S. Trust and The Will Smith Charitable Foundation, the latter a nonprofit to improve children’s lives. A “multicultural luau done Texasstyle” was the theme for this “barefoot or boots” bash with Master of Ceremonies Randy Beamer and special guest Maureen McCormick (TV’s original Marcia Brady) among the guests. There were also exciting travel-themed live and silent auctions and a gourmet Texas-Asian fusion feast.
Guests tripped the light fantastic at the Red Shoes Gala benefitting St. PJ’s Children’s Home and honored the Rey Feo Consejo Foundation, Rey Feo Scholarship Foundation, League of United Latin American Citizens Council No. 2 and “Hero of the Prairie” state Sen. “We joined KoKo to encourage each other to stay in shape and also connect during the day doing something that is productive and fun together. It’s been a rewarding and fun adventure. We motivate each other and share many laughs over our mess ups and challenges. We look forward to going together and KoKo has created a time and space that we can use to catch up and visit over all that is happening in our day. We are proud members of KoKo and blessed to have one another.” -Ashlee & Georgia, Alamo Heights, TX
