Dangerous Driving in Danvers

GLOBE NORTH COMMENTARY AU GU ST 07, 2015

Dangerous driving in Danvers Driving through my town of Danvers has become increasingly hazardous, and little is being done to improve the situation. Numerous accidents occur weekly at the reconfigured interchanges of Routes 128 and 62 (Elliott Street) and Routes 128 and 35 (High Street). One report shows an 84 percent increase in the number of accidents occurring between the months of January and July [2013]. Approximately 80 percent occur during daylight and under clear, dry conditions. Many locals do everything in their power to avoid these intersections as well as heavily traveled Conant Street. To the uninformed, we can only wish the best of luck. Be aware that although you have a green light, entering or exiting cars may cross right in front of you. Traveling the highways and byways in New Hampshire, on the other hand, is almost a pleasure. Thoughtfully reengineered roads and even extensive repairs are completed in a timely manner. Most importantly, law-abiding drivers are not distracted by hand-held electronic devices. Leaders in our fine Commonwealth should seek advice from our neighbor on how to safeguard both drivers and pedestrians. Sally Ann Connolly Danvers
