SWAYTA SHA Born into a family that were jewellers to the Nizam of Hyderabad and designed and sourced some of his finest gems and jewellery, you would think that Swayta Sha would automatically gravitate to a career in jewellery design. But this creative woman’s first career was as a banker. After a successful foray in the world of finance, she switched direction and harnessed her inborn talent as a jewellery designer with an eye for quality gems to follow the family tradition. Today, Swayta’s brand is showcased at Saks Fifth Avenue and it is a reflection of the passion, creativity and instinctive understanding of contemporary taste that her work embodies.We caught up with this self-made entrepreneur to find out how celebrating the women of today has helped Swayta carve out a niche for herself as a professional jeweller.
