On May 6, Saint Saviour hosted Dan Griffin with his family and friends in Ms. Caughey’s room which now also serves as the new home base for our award-winning newspaper Skyline and our literary magazine Voices. Dan generously donated to purchase two new computers, a camera and printer in memory of his wife Maria Perrotta Griffin, Class of 1967 who passed away in 2017. There is a plaque in the room with a photo from Maria’s journalism days at SSHS.

Former faculty member Sr. Nancy Gilchriest, SSND, Ed.D ’79 and current chair of the Education Department of St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue and Brooklyn, was presented with a citation from the State of New York Senate. Sister Nancy is “one of those rare and exceptional individuals who gives exemplary service to her community, devotes her time and energy to empowering future generations and improving the quality of life for all.” The citation states that the quality of services rendered by Sister Nancy is in “direct proportion with her commitment to excellence, embodiment of strength and courage - doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.”

There is a beautiful tribute in Prospect Park to alumna to Allyson Boolbol ‘80 who passed away last year.

2017 graduation speaker Anucha Browne ‘81 spoke at the United Nations in early March. Anucha is the Chief Engagement, Advocacy, and Global Programs Officer at UNICEF. Lissette Gomez Resto ’87 became a grandmother to a beautiful baby boy, Ashton James Brooks on May 9,2019. She recently joined the Monroe Woodbury Central School District where she is working with newly arrived students.

Karen Erving-Schiera ‘87 had her basketball jersey number retired by St. Francis College on February 9. She is the 2nd woman to have her number retired in St Francis’ History.

Gabrielle Napolitano ‘89 received the Spirit of NAWBO award last year and was elected to their board as VP of Signature Events.

Thank you to our co-chair of this year’s SSHS Mother Daughter Luncheon, Erinkate Joseph Peart ‘90. She has been a valuable member of our fundraising team for the past four years; her daughter Justine’19 graduated from SSHS in June.

Rani Ramlakhan ‘95 shared this amazing story with us of Saviour sisters connecting: “I reside in Wellington, FL. Today, I attended the Knights of Columbus Columbiettes’ Victorian Tea Party held at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles, my church in Royal Palm Beach. I graduated from SSHS in Brooklyn, NY class of ‘95. To my surprise sitting at the same table was another Saviourite, Peggy Clavin Brown, Class of ‘45. After talking with the ladies, my ring came up and that’s how we knew we went to the same high school. Wear your ring proudly! You never know where you will find your sisters in the future!”

2018 graduation speaker Captain Megan O’Malley ‘98 was honored at the Irish Echo Law and Order Awards in February. Megan is the Commanding Officer of the 76 th Precinct in Brooklyn.

Christina C. Bonne-Annee, Esq. ‘01 was the keynote speaker at a Rutgers Law School event in March and is theFounder of Mentoring Up, Inc. Amanda Sawney ‘01 is Mentoring Up’s Communications and Marketing Director. Mentoring Up is a social initiative designed to empower women by tapping into their inner excellence. The goal of Mentoring Up is to foster an exchange of knowledge, resources, and experiences that empower, uplift, encourage and enhance women both professionally and personally.

Annie Bellettiere ‘03 married Matt Swope on September 28th in Charleston, South Carolina. Her sisters, Maria Bellettiere Crisona ‘82 and Regina Bellettiere Colgan ‘85 were her matrons of honor. Annie also recently started a teaching position in the lower school at Ashley Hall, a K-12th grade all-girls school in Charleston. Annie said, “I am proud to be carrying on the beautiful tradition of helping future female leaders learn, grow, and develop!”

Patrice Kugler ‘07 was promoted to Vice President at Marino PR, where she now leads the agency’s Corporate Communications team.

Briana Vega ‘15 was named an assistant coach with Wagner College’s Swimming and Diving team. Mariah Thomas ‘16 (currently attending SUNY Purchase) released her first poetry book, Heart and Soul: Poems of Thoughts & Emotions in January 2019. Heart and Soul is a collection of poetry meant to encourage and showcase the beauty of being a woman in the modern world. Themes revolve around self-love, relationships, life, and internal struggles and doubts. The paperback and Kindle version are both available online at Amazon.com.

Khadijah Allen ’16 (currently attending Western New England University) was selected to serve as Orientation Group Leader (OGL) for the 2019 Summer Orientation and Registration (SOAR) program at Western New England University. SOAR helps set the stage for academic readiness and successful community integration to Western New England University. OGLs help new students transition during SOAR by providing entering students and parents with information and structure for effective adjustment to the university environment.

Tiara Nurse ‘16 (currently attending New York Institute of Technology) has been granted NYIT’s Outstanding Campus Leader Award. This award honors a sophomore or junior student leader who has demonstrated the most dedication and commitment to NYIT over the academic year.

Victoria Nilsen ‘16 (currently attending George Washington University) interned at NASA during the summer of 2019. She worked in the CFO’s Washington DC office on cost projections and scheduling for the Moon/Mars project. Victoria also visited Houston where she received a personal tour of the Space Shuttle and sections of the Space Station.

Taylor Taglianetti ’16 (currently attending NYU) has launched The National Organization of Italian Americans in Film & Television (NOIAFT). Many of the gifts in her life have been a direct result of her Italian heritage and she is thrilled to pay it forward and work to create opportunities for fellow Italian Americans.
