It is much like the State of the Union, only at a city level essentially. The mayor gives a report card of how the city is doing. This event is by invitation only and is not available to the public. Not only was my sponsor Councilman Keane able to get me a ticket, but I was also able to sit with many Cleveland City Council members.” Cleveland City Councilman Martin Keane. Kara learned such day-to-day duties as the importance of attending committee meetings, going to events around the city, serving constituents and maintaining a good public image. “Being a city councilman seemed like a very fulfilling career to have,” said Kara. “I was fortunate enough to shadow someone who is truly passionate about what he does, which is an essential part of any job. All in all, this was truly a unique and special experience that affirmed my desire to go into public service as a career path.”
