Eleven Student-Athletes Make College Commitments; Teams Receive Numerous Post-Season Awards

n May, eleven student-athletes were recognized at College Signing Ceremony. The Senior Jaguars, their sports and colleges are listed below. Timmia Crayton-Prioleau, Kentucky State University, Track & Field; Kady Cushing, Notre Dame College, Soccer; Abby Fleming, Ursuline College, Swimming; Cecy Guye, Loyola University Maryland, Volleyball; Sarah Houser, Rutgers University, Crew; Haley Morgan (granddaughter of Marlene Manik Bergen ’61), Xavier University, Track & Field; Molly Neitzel (sister of Colleen Neitzel ’18), The University of Akron, Basketball; Emma Pesicka, Clarion University, Track The Athletics Department is also pleased to announce the numerous awards it received post-season in softball, track & field, lacrosse, rugby and crew in addition to its Athletic Director Mr. John Manuszak, who was also honored with the John Peyton Athletic Director of the Year award, presented by the Northeast Alliance of Catholic Athletic Administrators. Head Coach Varsity Softball Mr. John Manuszak Dale Dawson Head Coach Lacrosse Ms. Laureen Antall and Head Coach Track & Field Mr. Steve Stahl were all named as the North Coast League’s Coach of the Year. Coach Dawson was also named as the All-County Softball Coach of the Year. Below are the respective athletes and sports that received awards. Congratulations to all teams on an amazing season!

LACROSSE Academic All-American: Ella Calleri ’19 North Coast League First Team: Ella Calleri ’19, Emily Langel ’20 (daughter of Judy Knis Langel ’88 and granddaughter of Joy Bejbl Knis ’56†), Faith Maruna ’21 and Grace Mattimore ’22;
RUGBY played in their eighth State title game, where they finished up as the State Runner-Up. Erin Ward ’19 was named as a Ms. Rugby Ohio finalist.
CREW sent five boats, its largest number of boats, to compete against the top high school teams in the country at the 85th Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championship Regatta. Nineteen of the thirty-four athletes racing were first time racers at Nationals. Below are the highestranking team’s national rankings among high school scholastic teams for the 2019 season.
