Lors d’une balade nocturne Porte de la Villette, nous avons découvert un petit local occupé par des squatteurs, installé dans un supermarché abandonné, coincé sous un tronçon aérien du périphérique. Ce fut le point de départ de notre projet de fin d’études. En 2017, le périphérique de Paris est bien loin de la réelle périphérie de la métropole. Cette autoroute urbaine de 36km est souvent perçue à travers les nuisances, sonores, visuelles et environnementales qu’elle génère. Il s’agit pourtant d’une composante essentielle au rayonnement national et international de la Capitale. Notre intention est de porter un regard nouveau sur cette infrastructure et ces enjeux à l’échelle du Grand Paris sous forme d’un guide de voyage architectural. Afin de mener à bien notre travail de revalorisation de ce patrimoine, nous avons mis en place une méthodologie rigoureuse et précise. Après des expéditions, in situ et virtuel, nous avons récolté notre matière première de travail. Le choix de 32 situations, et leur dessin, nous ont permis de mieux cerner les enjeux et le contexte des lieux mais aussi d’apporter une vision d’ensemble à cette diversité urbaine que constitue le transect du périphérique. A travers le spectre de l’enrichissement et de projets disruptifs, nous avons imaginé des scénarios sur 18 des sites sélectionnés pour leurs caractéristiques intrinsèques. Une réflexion plus approfondie de la porte de Bagnolet permet de synthétiser notre problématique globale à travers un projet décliné à plusieurs échelles.

During a night walk at Porte de la Villette, we discovered a small room occupied by squatters, installed in an abandoned supermarket, stuck under an aerial stretch of the ring road. This was the starting point of our final project. In 2017, the Paris ring road is far from the real periphery of the metropolis. This 36km highway is often perceived through the nuisances, sound, visual and environmental it generates. It is, however, an essential component of the national and international influence of the Capital. Our intention is to take a new look at this infrastructure and these stakes on a Greater Paris scale in the form of an architectural travel guide. In order to carry out our work of revalorisation of this heritage, we have put in place a rigorous and precise methodology. After expeditions, in situ and virtual, we harvested our raw material of work. The choice of 32 situations and their design allowed us to better understand the stakes and the context of the places, but also to provide an overview of the urban diversity that constitutes the transect of the ring road. Through the spectrum of enrichment and disruptive projects, we have devised scenarios on 18 of the sites selected for their intrinsic characteristics. A more in-depth reflection of the Porte de Bagnolet allows us to synthesize our global problems through a project that has been developed on several scales.
