MONSOON PREPARATION
PREPARATION
Monsoon season! Here we are, hoping to get to see the afternoon clouds build up and roll in and give us some much needed rain. We know we have to endure really hot weather and humid days in order for the formula to be right to bring on the rain. The monsoon season can bring great weather, as well as dangerous situations. The monsoon does not just bring a little rain, it comes down hard and it is a full-blown thunderstorm. Just like on the Fourth of July during fireworks, loud thunder can easily scar your animals. Be sure to protect them, you don’t want them getting lost during a storm and having the potential of getting caught in floodwaters. Also once the rains come down we have these toads called Colorado River Toads that only come out from the ground during the monsoons. If your dog were to get out and get one of these toads in their mouth it can be very poisonous. When it rains it pours! It is crucial that you pay attention to water levels. There are many areas that have potential to flood. Don’t take a chance trying to cross the running water, even if you think your vehicle is big enough, stop and go back the way you came. An average sized vehicle can float in as little as ten inches of water. Think smart; don’t get caught in a dangerous situation. Make sure you have some flashlights handy, and check that their batteries are fresh; because there is a good chance your electricity will go out during one of these storms. Not only can the water be dangerous, but also the wind that comes with the storm. More often than not the wind picks up very heavy and in our desert picks up a lot of dust. So now we have a dust storm. Visibility can be close to zero. If you are out driving, especially on the freeway, pull over as far as you can, put your vehicle in park and turn off your headlights and taillights. Do not leave your foot on the brake, because if other motorists can’t see they may follow the brake lights and end up hitting your car. Remember the Monsoon is coming, be prepared and think smart!
DON’T FORGET ABOUT YOUR PETS.
It is very common for dogs and cats to become scared during a monsoon storm. If you are able, bring your outdoor pet inside. Try to distract them by turning on the TV, or radio, or just playing with them with their favorite toys. If they want to hide, let them, they are just trying to escape the loud noises and lightning associated with the storm.
If you cannot bring your dog indoors, make sure their id tag is up to date. Be sure to check your yard to assure your dog has no way to escape. It is very common for dogs to run away in fear. If you do have an animal that has high anxiety during a storm, ask your veterinarian about a prescription that will help relax your furry friend!

Strawberries- The salicylic acid present in strawberries reduces and fades away hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Strawberries act as a great exfoliator and remove the dead skin cells that pull your skin down. It also tightens the pores and prevents further blemishes from forming.

Lemon is also known to be effective in reducing blackheads and excess oil from the face. Simply diluting the lemon juice with water or even honey, and applying a thin layer on your face with the help of a cotton pad before going to bed, is known to be a great remedy to reduce excess oil production.
Lemons also have got antimicrobial effects that help in treating acne. At the same time, lemon also has antifungal effects, which is why they are widely used in both, skincare and haircare regimes to keep skin and hair problem-free.
